Introduction:
HIJRA is implementing a health project in Wanlaweyn Lower Shabelle through SHF funded.
The objective of this project is to improve access and utilization of human life-saving health and nutrition services among hard to reach communities affected by floods in Wanlaweyn, Lower Shabelle region.
This is an integrated Health and Nutrition Emergency Response Project targeting flood-affected residents of Wanla win district in the Lower Shabelle Region of Somalia. The project is targeting both the host and internally displaced people through 4 mobile medical outreaches. The mobile integrated emergency response teams each consist of 1 clinical officer, 1nurse, 2 auxiliary nurses, 1 midwife, 1 vaccinator, 1 community mobilizer/IYCF promoter, and 1 registrar. The project aims at providing medical mobile outreach, a comprehensive package comprising of treatment of minor ailments strengthened early warning for disease outbreaks, reproductive health services( maternal &family planning), counseling and psychosocial support, health education, community dialogues, medical supplies, immunization, micronutrient supplementation, screening for malnutrition and referral, infant and young child feeding in emergency and management of uncomplicated severe acute malnutrition in children under-fives and moderate acute malnourished pregnant and lactating women.
The project supports the capacity development of the integrated emergency response team through classroom training, on the job training, and continuous mentorship to ensure they have adequate and relevant knowledge and skills to provide quality services to the population affected by the floods. The project supports the community mobilizers to do a regular screening for malnutrition and referral at the household level to ensure that all acute malnourished children are identified and enrolled in the outpatient therapeutic program for management while in need of inpatient care are referred for further investigation and support to identified health facilities. Also, the community mobilizers help in social mobilization and awareness creation of the services available to the community members to create demand for the services.
Disease surveillance mechanisms in place monitor any significant outbreaks and deterioration in the health and nutrition status of the target community. The promotion of appropriate IYCF practices is conducted both at outreach sites and community levels to enhance the community’s knowledge, attitude, behavior, and practice.
The objective of training:
The goal of training is to ensure that health Mobile clinics have competent providers who can offer high standard quality health care and Nutrition services in target areas.
Specific objective:
- Explain various methodologies/strategies for IMCI
- Identify the evidence basis for BEmONC.
- Extensively explain nutrition and Anthropometric measurement concepts
- Demonstrate understanding and use of the clinical decision-making process
- Explain the basic principle of IYCF counseling
- Formulate action plans describing how they will act as a role model and work institutionalize evidence-based BEmONC, IMCI, and IDSR knowledge and skills in their facilities
- The consultant will explain the information needed for data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Explain the national health and nutrition guidelines and policies
Target Audience
This training course is designed for health workers such as Clinical officers, Auxiliaries, nurses, midwives, and vaccinators that work in mobile clinics of the Project.

Location of training: Wanlaweyn Districts or Mogadishu (both parties to agree)
Methodology:
- PowerPoint presentations;
- Group discussions;
- Exercises and practice on skills learned;
Materials Requirements
- Training manual of all topics in English as per MOH and WHO guidelines.
- The training materials will be divided into folders based on the course topics;
- It is a requirement that all materials including PowerPoint presentations will be sent to HIJRA management at least 4days before this course;
- It is a requirement that the training materials will be distributed to each participant for 1st day the training course starting; It is the responsibility of training provider to provide stationary; and to print, photocopy training materials; All these costs should be put in budgets in their bidding document.
Timing
It is intended that the training course will be organized and completed by 28th February 2021.
Training evaluation and reporting by the consultant
Within 2 days after completion of the course, consultants (trainers) must send a draft report to HIJRA for commenting; upon receiving the draft report, HIJRA must give their feedbacks to the consultants within 3 Days afterward.
Upon receiving feedback from HIJRA, consultants will submit the final report in hard and electronic copies to HIJRA.
All materials and data collected and/or produced during the training periods are the property of HIJRA and can only be copied and reproduced with HIJRA permission.
Training Deliverable
- Training reports for each topic
- Final Participant list for the course
- Detailed Training Program Agenda provided to HIJRA before the course
- Evaluation of training objectives;
- Copy of the level one evaluation format given to the participants (attitude, feedbacks of trainees to the course)
- Copy of the level two pre and post-course tests on which learning results are based, e.g. True/false, multiple-choice questions testing knowledge, open-ended question formats, and/or project work.
- Comments on training materials requirements;
- Photos of participants
- Recommendations and proposals for improved training in the future (if any).
Consultant/Trainer Responsibilities.
- Development of training manuals and presentation
- Printing of training manuals
- Award certificates to participants
HIJRA Responsibilities:
- Invite all participants;
- Provide participant lists;
- Supervise the training conducted;
- Evaluate consultants’/trainers’ performance.
- Provision ofper diem for participants
- Arranging all transport and refreshments and lunch,
- Stationaries for Training
- Training hall
Requirement and Education background
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in designing or conducting Health and Nutrition training
- Demonstrated ability to work hard to reach the area
- Capacity to offer training in both English and Somalia
Education: Advanced degrees in a relevant subject (Master desirable).
HIJRA is seeking proposals from qualified individuals, firms or consultants to conduct training of project health staff in Wanlaweyn, south west state of Somalia for duration of 14 day
