Branch Compliance & Legal Officer – Bosaso, Somalia

Job Title: Branch Compliance & Legal Officer

Location: Bosaso.

Reporting to: Head of Compliance and Legal department.

Position Summary

A compliance officer researches, implements, and monitors the areas of banking regulations and laws, banking policies and procedures to ensure that the company complies with its outside regulatory and legal requirements and existing internal policies and procedures.

Major Duties:

Monitor and check daily branch transactions (both Mega & Banco Systems)
Share any inconsistencies with the branch manager
Approve Branch New clients

Collect daily reports (STR <R) from cashiers. And again share this with the branch manager

train branch staff on AML/CFT

Advise branch Management on Legal issues

Closely work with collection department

Represent Amal Bank in Court cases.

Maintain record keeping of all policies, procedure and legal documents

Monthly reports to the chief compliance and legal officer.

Required Skills:

Strong understanding of financial institutions (bank & Money Transfer Business) laws and regulations with applied experience in banking compliance

Ability to read and understand technical and legal language

Capable of digesting and interpreting a wide range of domestic and international regulatory requirements.

Ability to plan, coordinate and conduct compliance monitoring and internal reviews.

Ability to independently conduct research on consumer and banking regulatory laws and regulations and provide interpretations or clarifications to compliance and business management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills English and Somali
Strong working knowledge of general compliance as a whole.
Applied knowledge of Islamic financial products and services from simple current account to more complex project finance.
