THE POSITION: Branch Operation Manager (Garowe)

IBS Bank is looking to fill the position of a Branch Operation Manager.

The bank Branch Operations Manager is responsible for the branch efficient daily back office operations including related customer service, risk, security and safety in accordance with the Bank’s operational objectives. Oversees the branch Teller functions, and customer service duties. Must also be familiar with banking products and services. The bank Branch Operations Manager will be available to assist Tellers and Customer Service as necessary to perform their duties. More specifically the branch manager:

Branch Operation Manager Duties and responsibilities of the job

  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained and observes and oversees the highest level of the banks values.
  • Provides feedback on competitor activities as well as the needs and behavior of customers to achieve continuous customer satisfaction and minimized operational and reputational risks.
  • Handles opening of branch, Supervises Vault, drawer cash -proper levels, balancing and ordering, handover of cash and closing of vaults;
  • oversees teller and customer back office service duties; and assists with customer transactions providing resolutions to customer issues expeditiously.
  • Validates and approves customer transactions within authority limits and follows-up regularization of exceptional transactions with Client until final regularization. Exceptional transactions have to be approved after consultations and approval from Head of Operations.
  • Report every suspicious activity to the Head of Operations.
  • Comply with all department and Bank policies, procedures and regulations plus ensure that Branch Operations Manual are updated and properly maintained, and understood by the staff plus continuously propose ways of improving service to customers.
  • Re-checking and signing all opened accounts and dispatching them to Central Operations.
  • Training new staff in the branch on operational functions, and records and maintains their operational performance data.
  • Ensure Bank property, environment and documents within the operational area are maintained, kept safely in a clean manner and used properly applying clean desk policy.
  • To perform other duties or responsibilities as may be required from time to time

EDUCATION/ PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Degree or above in Business Administration, Finance or related disciplines
  • At least 3 years with business, banking experience.
  • Sufficient knowledge of modern management techniques and best practices
  • Ability to meet sales targets and production goals
  • Familiarity with industry’s rules and regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Results driven and customer focused
  • Leadership and human resources management skills.

  • Attention to detail is imperative
  • Organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to assess, identify and evaluate risk, plus establish cause and prescribe and enforce solutions
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • The ability to keep calm under pressure, especially when there are tight deadlines and in difficult situations
  • The ability to think objectively
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written is a must.
