JOB TITLE: Business Development Assistant 1 position (Somalia National Only)

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the Business Development assistant position is to assist in the day-to-day implementation of the Food Nutrition and Livelihood Improvement for IDPs.

JOB SUMMARY

Islamic Relief Somalia seeks qualified and experienced Business Development Assistant for the management, development and implementation of business development project activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for designing project detail action plan, terms of reference and procurement requests according to the plan of the project.

Lead the process of introducing E-card system and implement at field level.

Carry out livelihood activities in the target location, including E-voucher cash system, provision of livelihood inputs and technical training sessions.

Actively participate in community need assessments and identify beneficiaries in need of food security and livelihood support.

Lead the beneficiaries’ selection, registration and verification process as per the selection criteria, update beneficiary database if required. Make sure that beneficiary selection is done appropriately.

Responsible for managing the project including the staffs at the health Centre.

Organize, train and provide technical and leadership guidance to village-based income generating women groups.

Provide regular activity progress, quarterly and interim reports to FSL sector specialist.

Actively participate in monthly planning of FSL activities and participate in weekly review achievements and constraints; and provide feedback accordingly.

Closely work with field staffs including nurses and health workers and support them to integrate health and livelihoods

Carry out any other relevant task to the position as requested by the line manager.

Expertise in the area of nutrition and food security assessments including surveys, rapid screenings and rapid assessments

Experience in use of health and nutrition monitoring tools such as the Health Information System

Proven experience and knowledge in food security (Cash and voucher programming, income generating activities).

 

SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS

Skills related to participatory methods.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to work independently and creatively.

Good computer skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

University degree, with relevant experience preferably in agriculture, nutrition, agro-economy, social sciences, development studies or other relevant discipline.

Proven experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Minimum 3 years’ experience from working in relief and development contexts.

Good knowledge of English language

Ability and willingness to travel extensively to the field.

Child Safeguarding: The position interacts with children and hence requires utmost compliance when dealing with children
