Job Position: Cafeteria Dish Washer

Job Description REF : 013/MCP/FBD

Department: Kitchen & F/B 

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Collecting used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas
• Loading and unloading washing machines
• Washing specific items by hand
• Collect used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas
• Load and unload dishwashing machines
• Maintains a clean kitchen, properly washes and sorts soiled dishes, and preps foods as needed. Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized.
• Sets up dish stations, including dish-machines and sinks.
• Wash specific items by hand (e.g., wooden cutting boards, large pots and utensils)
• Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately
• Scrape and sort dishes before loading them into a dishwashing machine for cleaning
• Monitor dish machine water temperature during sanitary wash cycle
• Unload dishwashing machine after a wash to put away utensils and dishes at proper storage units
• ensure all dishes are clean and sanitized before they are put away on dish racks or used by your fellow team members.
• Maintain the dishwasher area to make sure it’s clean and organized and that the wash cycle is always sanitary and operating at peak performance.
• Mop and sanitize the dish room, kitchen floors and dining room hallways at the end of each shift to maintain safety and sanitation.
• Sanitize work area at least once an hour throughout your shift to prevent cross-contamination.
• Set up the dish room and dishwashing machine before your shift and properly break both down after every shift.
• Adhere to the most current rules regarding food safety and hygiene.
• Come to work with a smile, your full work uniform, a positive attitude and a willingness to give us your all.
• Sweep and scrub kitchen floors to ensure a clean and tidy work area
• Bag kitchen trash and discard in a dumpster at intervals
• Maintain adequate levels of detergents and other cleaning supplies
• Assist in the preparation and serving of food as may be required
• Participate in periodic employee meetings and contribute to the growth of an establishment
• Stock supplies such as food items and utensils in kitchen and storage areas
• Load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food stock from a restaurant
• Use hand trucks to move supplies or equipment from a storage area to work area
• Set up banquet tables and dining areas according to set standards
• Maintain dishwashing machine and report any mechanical faults to supervisor
• Stock and arrange kitchen utensils and dishes in an orderly manner
• Handle glassware and other fragile tableware to prevent breakage
• Maintain a customer-focused attitude while performing job duties.
• Taking garbage and trash to dumpster area
• Changes water of machines and sinks every two hours,
• Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries.
• Maintains trash cans throughout shift and removes full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift.
• Maintains the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves.
• Follows the posted daily dish cleaning duties.
• Assists in food prep and any other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed.
• Washing work areas, refrigerators, cooking equipment, walls and floors
• Assembling, maintaining and breaking down the dish machine
• Set up workstations before meal prep begins
• Ensure there are always enough clean dishes, glasses and utensils, especially during peak hours
• Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g., detergents) and place orders when necessary
• Check washing machines’ operation and promptly report any technical/performance issues
• Remove garbage regularly
• Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floor
