About the Project.

The Improved Child Protection Systems Strengthening CPSS-Project central goal is to establish sustainable child protection systems, especially for internally displaced children. The project will also strengthen protection systems at the community, district, and national levels that aim to reach the most vulnerable children. It is anticipated that the project will expand to include all children in the communities of operation, as every child is at risk for abuse and exploitation if they do not have appropriate systems in place to protect their rights. Mogadishu, Kismayo and Garowe the target locations of this project, are among the most important reception centers for internally displaced persons and are therefore particularly dependent on the development of sustainable structures to cope with protection risks. The direct target group of the CPSS-Project therefore includes internally displaced children and youth in Mogadishu, Kismayo and Garowe. They are supported through case management, family reunification, psychosocial support, child rights training and empowerment. Furthermore, the target group also includes adults who work or volunteer in the field of child protection or have an impact on child protection due to their social status. In Garowe- the project will build a strong child protection workforce (statutory and community) and strengthen coordination and service delivery in 16 IDPs to ensure that children in need of care and protection are receiving the necessary services. The project will also provide direct support to adults including members of community-based child protection structures, religious and other traditional leaders, representatives of local authorities, CBOs and CSOs, and service providers through various trainings and community dialogues/talks.

About the Position

CPSS-Project Case workers will work , under the supervision of the project coordinator , with a wide range of inter-related and inter-dependent, formal and informal bodies including Puntland Ministry of Women Development & Family Affairs (MoWDAFA), Puntland Ministry of Justice, Religious Affairs and Rehabilitation(MoJRAR), Save the children International, Child Protection Working Groups, Child Welfare Committees (CWC), GBV/CP working groups, Case Management working group, Community-based structures,

IDP Communities, Children and Youth to provide overall case management activities to prevent and respond to violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children in 16 long term IDP’s based in Garowe.

III.            Major Activities

• Assist the protection activities, such as GBV response, Child Protection, Awareness raising and distribution of Medical, PSS, and Material support.
• Advocate for children’s rights and ensure that hear and engaging strategy for children and youth are followed to ensure the child participation are solicited at all stages.
• Assist the organization of round tables between members of parliament, CSO coalitions and activists to discuss the rights of children and legislative priorities.
• Participate the coordination and strengthening of cross-sectoral linkages with child protection systems by working with project partners.
• Assist the organization of Community awareness and Child Rights media campaigns.
• Participate the training on Children’s rights training for the media.
• Undertake case management steps and referral pathways system.
• Provide monthly and quarterly caseload reports.
• Regularly visit Girl Safe Space and deliver structured sessions at Girl Safe Space.
• Assist the organization of soft skills, interpersonal, management, and business skills trainings.
• Assist the establishment and training of peer-to-peer child protectors.
• Assist SIDRA program team on preparation of Child Protection Related cross cutting case studies, documentaries, Fact sheets, Web stories.
• Participate the research development on Child Protection Related cross cutting issues and evaluation to inform evidence-base interventions.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
