SOHASCO is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit making youth organization. The headquarter office is in Hargeisa – Somaliland. A group young people who realized the need for such an organization to address key issue facing them and their peers at the time has founded it in March 2007

SOHASCO regards its human resources as most valuable asset and primary driving force, as it maintains a dynamics & cohesive team of professional who diligently ensure that projects are completed on schedule, using adequate budget and according to required specifications, all by adhering to exacting safety and quality standards.

SOHASCO, in partnership with UNFPA and Somaliland Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) host Youth Skills Development Project for young girls and boys; the project is particularly addressing disadvantageous and vulnerable groups of the society. This project also addresses the GBV, SRH, family planning and counselling.

Youth Skills Development Project

Youth Skills Development Project (YSDP)is aimed at empowering and strengthening the skills of young women and men in Marodijeh region of Somaliland. The project is particularly addressing the gender equality problem of job recruitment processes. Therefore, the project will focus on vocational skills (Cooking, Tailoring), pedagogical skills, henna, handcraft materials, multimedia and communications, social media and others.

About the Communication Training

Communication trainer will assess the capacity and knowledge of communication trainees of SOHASCO and facilitate 2 months in training. The trainer will build the capacity of the trainee in knowledge management, particularly in the development of a strategic communication plan, development of information-education communication (IEC) materials on target beneficiaries, verbal and nonverbal communication, studies/assessments, project reports, etc., and utilization of social media.

The Communications Trainer shall undertake and deliver the following:

1. Will assess the communications capacity of the trainees to tailor the training session into their gaps.
2. Develop communications training modules and facilitate the trainees in the workshop.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, international relations;
• At least 5 years’ experience in working in mass media, development communication journal-ism and multimedia production in at national and international level;
• Minimum 4 years of experience in dealing with communications in/ for the public-sector institution or non-profit organization or large donor funded programme;
• Proven ability to develop approaches and materials for diverse target audiences, including messaging on culturally sensitive issues;
• Experience in drafting newsletters, managing of information for websites, and/ or drafting annual reports in the English language;
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines in a multicultural environment, including the ability to integrate feedback of team members and stakeholders;
• Demonstrated excellent command of spoken and written English; and Proven facilitation, analytical and report writing skills.

• Training methodology with detailed work plan
• Training modules
• Comprehensive training report (aide memoir)
