INTRODUCTION
Found on June 10th 2010, the initiative of forming this organization primarily came from women who live in the Diaspora but recently returned to the country. The girls who are the masterminds of this important innovation are new in the country but they found relentless support and encouragement from girls in the country particularly the young girls who have recently graduated from local universities
This organization has the aim to consolidate the uncultivated ideas of the Somali women and girls towards empowerment of the Somali community and rebuilding the Somali civil-war devastated country. The organization also makes a chance to employ or play as volunteers for Somali local educated girls to demonstrate their talents and abilities to contribute to the wellbeing of their people.
The organization in addition to its primary objective of serving the Somali community in general, also aims to work particularly to the women who are among the most vulnerable of the Somali community under the current situation. It will particularly address the basic services, human rights, protection and advocacy, women/girl’s empowerment including the economic empowerment, needs of the women, the violence against women and contributing toward the enhancement of women leadership in all social spheres.
Purpose
Under the supervision and line management of the protection officer, the Community Mobilization Officer is responsible for supporting WISE protection team to establish effective relationships with the hosted population, and facilitate increasing participation of the hosted population across all sectors within the site. This entails building strong relationships with the hosted population from across different ethnicities and backgrounds. The Community Mobilization Officer will be responsible for establishing and supporting functioning and equitable community representative groups, and for organizing regular training activities, participatory and awareness campaigns within the site. Moreover, will be responsible to design and implement workshops/seminar and relevant activities.
Major Responsibilities: Major responsibilities of community mobilizer officer (not exhaustive) are listed below:
- Develop strong relationships with members of the community (IDPs, refugees, HMCs and also maintain contacts with the relevant local authorities and humanitarian actors at site level, in order to support the participation and inclusion of the Persons of concern.
- To lead, coordinate and implement community mobilization activities by applying various techniques to mobilize local leaders, IDPs, youths and women in Adaado.
- To monitor community mobilization activity performance in the field.
- To monitor and report the availability of the required items, printed materials and etc. to perform community mobilization activities.
- To ensure that all publications and printed materials are developed and available for distribution in the target locations.
- Establish and maintain contacts with community members, leaders and the existing local authorities.
- Coordinate & collaborate with protection actors and all available community services to ensure the sustainability of community mobilization initiatives.
- Ensure the attendance for all programme staff meetings, community members, religious leaders, local community leaders, and share the updates, action points and plans for the up-coming week.
- Ensure timely sharing of all the relevant information with the line manager.
- Ensure the required supplies are in place, data are recorded.
- Carryout Community outreach to develop relations in the targeted districts.
- To provide regular updates and report to Program coordinator on the progress of implementation

- Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor degree/Diploma (Bachelor’s Degree is an added advantage)
Work Experience:
- At least two years’ experience in an NGO, preferably in social work or sociological research.
- Experience working for national Ngo organization is preferred.
- Good protection background and knowledge of IDPs and refugee context, as well as demonstrated ability to identify and refer vulnerable cases, is desirable
- Experience in regular report writing.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
- Belief in human rights including gender equality
- Good communication skills including ability to gain trust and build relationships with communities.
- High standard of spoken and written Somalia and English, ability to translate desirable
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and excel
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
- Flexible and able to work in a dynamic and diverse environment.

Working Environment: Located in Adaado District-Somalia, the position will involve travel to all parts of Adaado District.
