About the Job

The cook prepares meals and ensures cleanliness of the Kitchen at ICRC Bosaso premises. He/she adheres to the food, safety and health procedures while preforming his/her duties.

This is a national/resident position based in Bosaso, Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Observes the stipulated hygiene standards while preparing meals and ensures there is no food wastage
• Orders and/or purchases food items and manages Kitchen stock levels
• Manages expenses related to food and non-food purchases
• Ensures that cookware and kitchen equipment is in good condition and safe for use
• Informs the supervisor of broken/faulty equipment for replacements or repair of the same
• Ensures that cleanliness is maintained in the Kitchen and dining area and complies with the standard hygiene and safety standards

Minimum qualifications and required competencies

• Primary School certificate
• Certificate in food production, hospitality & catering or an equivalent qualification
• 4 years’ experience in a similar position in a busy kitchen
• Basic knowledge of English and fluency in Somali Language
• Self -motivated and possess immense pride in your work
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates good team working spirit
• Organized, good planner and tidy
• Works independently with minimum supervision
