About the Job

The cook is tasked with setting up of food menus and safe preparation of quality food while observing standard hygiene levels.

He/she adheres to the food, safety and health procedures while performing his/her duties.

This is a national/resident position based in Guriceel, Somalia.

Duties and Responsibilities

▪ Observes the stipulated hygiene standards while preparing meals and ensures there is no food wastage

▪ Orders and/or purchases food items and manages Kitchen stock levels

▪ Manages expenses related to food and non-food purchases

▪ Makes sure cooking equipment is in good condition/safe for use

▪ Informs the supervisor of broken/faulty equipment for replacements or repair of the same

▪ Ensures that cleanliness is maintained in the Kitchen and dining area and complies with the standard hygiene and safety standards

Skills and Qualifications

Primary School certificate and Vocational School certificate
Certificate in food production or an equivalent qualification
3 years’ experience in a similar position in a busy kitchen
Knowledgeable of Kitchen and Food Hygiene Principles
Fluent in written and spoken Somali
Elementary level English
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills
