ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Somali-Sudanese Specialized Hospital is a General Hospital, funded by Somali business elites to meet the needs of Somali people in health care services. it has been providing health care services in Somalia since 2014.

The headquarter of the hospital is at Hodan district, whereby the hospital runs four branches in the other districts in Mogadishu.

The hospital covered almost a huge gap in the health care sector in Somalia, that many Somali citizens needed to go abroad for health care needs.

The hospital absorbs and employs both qualified Somalis and expats from different nationalities.

Job Description

JOB TITLE: CRITICAL CARE NURSE (HDU, ICU, NEONATE, EMERGENCY) – 5 POSITIONS

DUTY STATION: SSSH HEADQUARTER.

EXPECTED STARTING DATE: JUNE 2021.

STATUS: PERMANENT

APPOINTMENT PERIOD: FULL-TIME

Duties and Responsibilities

Admits and discharges the patient.

Assesses and identifies patient’s problems and formulates care plan.

Maintains personal hygiene and comfort of the patient.

Attends to the nutritional needs of the patient, prepares invalid’s diet and feeds helpless patients.

Maintains clean and safe environment for the patients.

Implements and maintains ward policies and routines.

Co-ordinates patients care with various health team members.

Participates actively in doctor’s rounds.

Is accountable for total care of patient allocated to him or her.

Helps doctors in diagnosis and treatment.

Maintains all documentation related to allocated patients during the shift.

Assesses, interprets, anticipates patient problems and reports to health team. Initiates preventive/corrective action

Imparts & documents health education to the patient and his/her family.

Accompanies very ill patients sent to other departments/to other institutions.

Maintain ward stocks as per assignment.

Set up all procedural trays and things needed for patient care.

Make sure that the patient care equipments are available and maintained within the department all the time.

Make sure the reports are ready before the consult ant rounds.

Requirements

Education Experience

B.Sc Nursing.

Minimum 3 years of progressive professional experience

Knowledge and Specific Skills

Knowledge about standard

Basic knowledge of hand hygiene and care giving.

Passion for patient care

Treating patients in a compassionate and sensitive manner

Language: Proficiency in oral and written communication in Somali, English and Arabic is a must.

Reporting

The CRITICAL CARE NURSE reports to the head Nurse.
