ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

Somali-Sudanese Specialized Hospital is a General Hospital, funded by Somali businessmen to meet the needs of Somali people in health care services. It has been providing health care services in Somalia since 2014. Headquartered in Hodan district, the hospital runs four branches in the other districts in Mogadishu. The hospital bridges a huge gap in the health care sector in Somalia. The hospital absorbs and employs both qualified Somalis and expats from different nationalities.

• JOB SUMMARY:

Provides direct patient care assigned to him /her during duty shift and assists Team Leader / Incharge in management of the ICU.

• MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
  • Knowledge: – Current Best Practice in Nursing Care.
  • Skill: – Patient Monitor Catheterization, Ventilator Handling, BIPAP, CPAP, Care of Tracheostomy, IV Canulation, Handling Central Lines and Arterial Lines, Drug dosage calculation, BLS
  • Attitude- Positive attitude towards work, Willing to take orders, Willing to work in different shift and departments.
  • Ability: –To Provide Comprehensive ICU Nursing Care.
  • Minimum Education: – Sc. /B.Sc. Nursing/Post basic B.Sc./GNM.
  • Experience: – 3-7 YEARS.

 

• JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Primary Duties & Responsibilities would include, but will not limited to:

1. Maintain personal hygiene and comfort of the patient.
2. Make sure Physical assessment done on daily basis
3. Provide patient care
4. Attends nutritional needs of the patients and feeds the helpless patient.
5. Communicate with patient and Family Members appropriately
6. Provide health education to the patient
7. Ensure unit equipment and instruments are maintained in good working order.
8. Administration of medication on time.
9. Preparing the articles and patients for various diagnostic procedures.
10. Assisting doctors in various medical and surgical diagnostic procedures.
11. Collecting and sending of specimens for lab.
12. Preparing patient for surgery and carry out pre anesthetic orders, completes pre op checklist, prepare the patient file and completes documentation.
13. Reports abnormal values to the doctors on time.
14. Report patient condition to the doctor and the team leader whenever required.
15. Ensures Hand over Process done every Inter shift
16. Ensures Given Assignments are completed within the shift.
17. Any adverse event occurs in your Ward that should be notified to the Team Leader /Supervisor
18. Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to resuscitation protocols.
19. Maintains proper Positioning of patients.
20. Take round with the doctors when called to list new orders and see that they are carried out.
21. To maintain ICU policies and routines.
