ABOUT Jamhuriya University of Science and Technology (JUST)

JUST is an accredited private, higher educational institution in Somalia established in 2011 with faculties in Medicine & Health Science, Engineering, Computers & IT, and Economics & Business Management.

The newly launched University Language Center (ULC) offers effective, in-sessional English training for university students to enhance their communication skills for academic and career success.

University Language Center is seeking a Director of Studies and Instructors to inaugurate this flagship English language program developed and supported by educational consultancy Ednastics.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in English, TESOL or a related field.
Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in TESOL (Masters preferred).

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Previous classroom teaching experience and a high degree of digital literacy.
The ability and desire to work with language learners, showing empathy and awareness of challenges and knowledge of curricular objectives
Skill in developing curriculum responsive to the needs of Somali students.
Outstanding interpersonal skills positive attitude, a kind regard for others, and a good sense of humor.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Full Time 40 hours per week (24 instructional hours and 16 office hours for meetings, PD, student support, marking and prep time).

COMPENSATION

Tax-free salary of $600-800 per month depending on academic background and experience
Room and board in expat compound, free internet and transportation all paid for by the university
4 weeks’ holiday time per year and round-trip flight to home city per year
