SRCS (Bisha Cas) is seeking a qualified candidate for the following positions;
Job Title: Dispatchers
Grade: Band 2
Reporting to: First Aid Focal Point.
Duty Station: Lasanod Branch Office
Posting Date: 25th Dec-21.
Posting Expiry Date: 30th Dec-21.
Contract Type : Fixed Term (One year of possible renewal)
Background
The SRCS is an independent, non-political humanitarian organization founded in April 1963 and was established with presidential decree No. 187 in 1965. The ICRC then recognized it in 1969 and became a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the same year.
Main tasks
The Dispatchers on shift should respond all calls to the SRCS emergency lines. It is the Dispatchers’ responsibility to question the caller, document all important information, and determine the appropriate course of action.
The Dispatcher is responsible to use the SRCS Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD, e.g. Beacon) software, creating incidents and dispatching the ambulance teams according to the standing SRCS operational protocols.
The dispatcher is responsible of delegating/assigning Ambulance in active incidents. He should be aware of the location of each of the field tiems and their suitability for each particular response.
The dispatchers should be assuring the both the PCR (word & excel) are filled correctly with the patient information given the care and checking the document if its properly filled before departing from their shift.cThe dispatcher should assure proper keeping and storing of the PCR file before handing to the FA focal point for archiving.
Dispatcher should be knowledgeable of the local environment, all the districts, villages and roads of Lasanod district and sorounding villages, so as to guide the responders and patient/caller demanding help.
Dispatcher is responsible for proper handling, keeping and handing over of the IT equipment (i.e. computer, mobile phones, handsets) as well as the ambulance keys.
Responsibilities
- Question callers to determine their locations and the nature of their problems to determine the type of response needed. Prioritise callers according to clinical evidence available.
- Answer phonecalls and or respond to queries and provide information about the service.
- If the situation requires, provide emergency medical instructions to callers.
- Use the radio, phone or computer to direct crews and other field units to the appropriate sites.
- Determine response requirements and relative priorities of situations, and dispatch Ambulances following established SRCS procedures.
- Coordinate operational activities.
- Maintain access to and security of sensitive documents and other forms of data.
- Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites, law enforcement agencies, and all other individuals or groups requiring notification.
- Ensure the functionality of the equipment (Mobile phones, Handset radios, Ambulance keys & Laptop) required for the operations. Report maintenance or equipment problems to the FA Focal point.
- Maintain files of information relating to emergency calls such as PCR in both excel and word for filling and for reference
- Record details of calls, dispatches, and messages as required and Maintain call records.
- Connect and follow-up between the responder and the callers in case there is need.
- Moblize the volunteer resources of the FA Program in case of MCI or other emergencies, using the Beacon software or other communication means available.
- Report to FA Focal point the filled PCR documents and other relevant information required
- Take up the role of the Ambulance Responder in case there is operational need.
- Flexible and can be assign any other tasks and duties
Qualification Requirements
- Completion of high school education is mandatory.
- Diploma in health sciences, nursing, or related field is preferred.
- Driving licence with demonstrable good driving skills is mandatory.
- Good IT skills is mandatory; good knowledge of Windows, MS Office with proven experience in data entry.
- Having prehospital care and First Aid training with certification is an asset.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral.
- Humanitarian drive, willingness to support the community, learning and self-development mindset.
- English is an asset (possible training and meetings out of Somalia, trainings in English, reporting).
- Valid passport, IDS and license.
- Ability to work under pressure, ability to multitask.
We offer:
SRCS offers a temporary or one year contract, renewable depending on both funding and performance.
Salary and Benefits are according to SRCS terms of employment for national staff.
