Driver (2 Positions) – External – Jigjiga, Somali Regional State of Ethiopia
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Driver will have an overall responsibility of the assigned driving vehicle and keeping the Bank’s vehicles or the assigned vehicle in good condition including minor maintenance of vehicles and perform liaison works as per the office regulation and as stipulated in this job description.
- Drive and maintain the vehicle in a professional, conscious and safe manner with strict observance of the local traffic rules and regulations and the Bank’s internal policy.
- Serve as driver for Shabelle Bank employees to drive an assigned vehicle(s) to destinations within and outside of Somali Region. Trip destinations include: training events, workshops, Locations that Shabelle Bank works with; and partner, governmental, NGO, international and other offices with which SB interacts.
- Work with a flexible schedule and cover all departures/locations.
- Ensures that the vehicle is utilized for the sole purpose of the organization’s work and comply with strictly.
- Follow-up scheduled insurance, service period and annual inspection of assigned vehicles and report to supervisor.
- On continual basis check and survey to ensure that roads and destinations planned for assigned passengers are free of any crime occurrences such as pick pocketing, purse snatching, or robbery.
- Responsible to have all relevant and up-to date vehicle documentations on hand while assigned for work
- Maintain daily log of all trips taken and obtain signature of all passengers.
- Schedule regular car service appointments and report any issues.
- Assist staff with loading and unloading their luggage
- Ensure that insurance registration and annual inspection of all SB vehicles is valid. Maintain copies of vehicle logbooks and insurance documents, ensuring that the renewal of insurance and annual inspection for vehicle is carried out in timely manner.
- Ensure that at all times the vehicle is equipped with the correct tools and spare parts (functioning jack, a spade, an approved tool kit, a spare wheel with a properly inflated tyre and an approved first aid kit).
- Ensures that he/she has a valid driving license all time and ensures that a copy of the car paper and other required document is in the car.
- Responsible for the day to day maintenance and check up of the car, performs minor repair & ensures the safety of the car all the times.
- Responsible for preparing monthly activity, fuel consumption & expenditure report and presenting these to supervisor every month.
- Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean, inside and outside, at all times and that the organization stickers are visible if required.
- Ensuring that no unauthorized personnel, no military personnel, no harmful weapon including gun, stick, knife, spear, any explosive materials, Chat, drugs on board.
- Distribute different letters, packages to and from shabelle bank office and to other partners on behalf of the Shabelle bank and checks mails in the post office daily & perform related liaison works.
- Provide logistical assistance like pro-forma collection and distribution of RFQ to vendors.
- Pick up staff from the airport and at the time they’ve requested by asking the order from the Assigned supervisor or Branch Manager.
- Assist in the settlement of monthly utility bills (telephone, internet, etc.) or any associated payments.
- Responsible to settle Per-diem as per the allowed maximum limit.
- Assist office in coordinating field visits.
- Assist senior logistic officer or branch manager in vehicle management.
- Ensuring to leave the compound with authorized paper and passenger list/clearance for goods for clearly stated reason.
Skills and Qualifications
- 10 grade complete plus (+) Certificate or diploma in Auto mechanics with 3rd grade driving license.
- Excellent Auto-mechanics Knowledge.
- Minimum of 8 years as driver and in handling different liaising activities and experience with NGO’s
- SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Good knowledge of safety and security standards.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and local language.
- Ability to effectively work in a team.
- Well-developed interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations.
- High level of integrity and honesty, etc.
