Position Summary

Education coordinator will manage and lead the integrated Education in Emergency and child Protection Program across different program location and will closely work with other partners implementing the project. The role holder will be responsible for program management and sector management for the organization; and will closely work with the Program Director on the Education themes.

The candidate is expected to lead program staff in different operational areas as well as provided technical oversight in the sector management and provide strategic direction. The role holder will closely be working with the Area Managers for the field level program operations and will represent the organization in different state and national coordination forum.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Line management of Education project field staff
  2. Adherence to SOS CVS policies, guidance, and procedures
  3. Contribute to Education strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps
  4. Manage and implement delegated portfolio of Education projects (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from PM in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality
  5. Provide regular progress reports to PM (AM and CCS if not PM)
  6. Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
  7. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  8. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
  9. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
  10. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy

Specific responsibilities

  • Manage the SOS CVS education staff, providing on-the-job training as required to increase the capacity of the team.
  • Prepare/develop narrative and budgets for proposals in conjunction with the Education Project Manager.
  • Actively promote the rights of IDPs/returnees and be protection and advocacy oriented.
  • Act as Education PM when s/he is out of the country.
  • Any other assigned task relevant to the position as requested by the Education PM or Area Manager.
  • Document technical issues and questions, and channel to the Education PM.
  • Ensure a constructive co-operation with SOS CVS’s other programmes in the Area.
  • Communicate regularly with the SOS CVS education staff, offering support and advice as relevant and taking note of their experiences and suggestions.
  • Visit/supervise regularly to all the SOS CVS education project sites.
  • Ensure a constructive co-operation with local authorities.
  • Ensure a constructive co-operation with other international and local NGOs as well as the UN family, particularly in the education sector.
  • Ensure a constructive co-operation with SOS CVS Education teams in other field offices.
  • Participate in relevant meetings.

Skills and Qualifications

  • We are looking for a university degree graduate preferably in the field of Education, political science or international development with at least five years’ previous experience in a similar position and in a humanitarian/recovery context and working with education projects, especially projects funded by EU.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels.
  • In this position, you will join highly motivated and expert staff who are making a difference to the most vulnerable people.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills with the ability to represent SOS CV in donor forums, develop partnerships with other NGOs.
