SOS Children’s Villages in Somaliland seeks to fill the following position which will be based in Hargeisa. We seek to recruit a protection officer for SOS Children’s Villages in Somaliland. S/he should be able to facilitate the provision and supervision of Protection activities under the emergency program in Somaliland. Key emergency interventions to be supported and supervised by the protection officer include: the Child Friendly Space (CFS), Case Management, GBV services, distribution of dignity kits, capacity building and Awareness campaigns for target communities.

Priority Tasks and Responsibilities.

• Support and facilitate protection and gender base violence in emergency response intervention in drought affected project sites in Marodijeh, Sool, Awdal and Togdher regions.
• Stablish and strengthen community protection committees in target villages and IDP sites.
• Providing support, guidance and counsel to families in need.
• Monitoring visits between at-risk or fragile children and family members.
• Facilitate and implement community trainings on advocacy, child protection, GBV and basic human rights and awareness raising sessions.
• Carry out need based MHPSS activities for children and communities in target locations.
• Develop IEC materials for use in behaviour change and communication (BCC) sessions in the community level.
• Implement intergrated emergency protection activities within the project target communities and locations and in line with the definite project goals.
• Conduct capacity building training for the various groups of the project and ensure the quality of the trainings.
