JOB TITLE: Field Assistant

LOCATION: Kismayo, Somalia

CONTRACT DURATION: Until 31/12/2022 renewable

START DATE: June 1st 2022

SALARY GRADE: According to SIF’S National Staff Salary Scale

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Field Assistant is responsible for assisting in the implementation, supervision and management of the activities of the project at grassroots level. These activities include: distribution of farming and fishery equipment; livestock restocking; distribution of animal feed; conducting trainings; and mobilizing and sensitizing communities about the project activities. The Field Assistant will work in close collaboration with Programs Team & the Field Coordinator in order to achieve the program outcomes within the limits of the validated Project Proposal and Budget.

This project is funded by BMZ and will be implemented in partnership with VSF-Germany and Somalia Lifeline Organization (SOLO).

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead in community mobilization, information dissemination, and monitoring the project activities delivered in project sites.
2. Ensure proper beneficiary targeting in collaboration with existing community structures and local authorities.
3. Work with the enumerators and the MEAL Team to conduct beneficiary registration and update the registry with new arrivals and exits
4. Be the point of contact between the organization and the community
5. Work with the Team to organize materials needed for each activity e.g. for distribution of fishing equipment, livestock restocking, distribution of animal feed, unconditional cash transfers and trainings as outlined by the project;
6. Support teams that will be carrying our land preparation activities and water reticulation systems;
7. Support government extension officers in carrying out animal health interventions
8. Conduct beneficiary verification, validation and registration on distribution days
9. Identify and prioritize vulnerable people on distribution days
10. Update and reconcile stock issues against the distribution list for every distribution
11. Work with the team to maintain a log of feedback, complaints and corrective actions taken
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager
