Lutheran World Federation Kenya- Somalia, Kismayu, Jubbaland state of Somalia Program is seeking to recruit a Somali National staff for the following position;

JOB SUMMARY/ROLE PURPOSE

The Field Officer – Will support the Organization in projects Implementations, liaison and coordination functions. He/she ensures that all activities are done in line with the donor requirements, and that these activities are achieved in a timely and efficient manner. The position holder will be wholly accountable for the LWF project activities in the area of work under direct supervision of Projects Coordinator.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Supports and ensures effective projects implementation, liaison and coordination.
  •  Attend all cluster coordination meetings in the area of work.
  •  Support monitoring activities against work plans to identify possible areas of improvement, making recommendations and recording lessons learnt.
  •  Prepare and submit periodic (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annual) reports of activities, evaluations, recommendations and action plans.
  •  Provide capacity building to existing structures (CECs, existing protection groups, community leaders Etc.) to enhance competencies of users and stakeholders.
  •  Support key thematic area of work; Education, protection, Social cohesion and Livelihood.
  •  Support and participate in conducting need assessments.
  •  Participate in developing concept notes and proposals as requested from time to time.
  •  Performs additional tasks as assigned by the project coordinator and Team leader.
  •  Conducts duties strictly in accordance with LWF code of conduct and the principle of confidentiality.
  •  Support the communications team in providing inputs to visibility & communications products, human interest stories in accordance with communications plan & donor compliance.
  •  Participate in projects progress monitoring and write shops.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  •  Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline including Social Sciences.
  •  Proven working experience of minimum 3 years in humanitarian sector.
  •  Good understanding of Somalia Humanitarian context.

COMPETENCIES

  •  Excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, use of internet and email.
  •  Strong analytical, facilitation and documentation experience with humanitarian programmes.
  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills including influencing negotiation.
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to liaise with a variety of people successfully and effectively in a multicultural set up.
  •  Ability to facilitate community engagement.
  •  Ability to work independently.
  •  Fluent in written and spoken English and as well strong presentation skills.
