Finance Assistance – Berbera, Somaliland
SRCS Somaliland is seeking for a qualified candidate for the following position:

Over all job purpose
The Finance Assistant support the finance team for the accuracy and efficiently of financial transactions, maintains checkout operations by following policies and procedures and reporting requirements, contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, balances cash drawer by counting cash at beginning and end of working hours, provides information about exchange rates by answering questions. The post holder maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- To assist the Finance Officer in ensuring that timely and accurate payments are made.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of payment documents in compliance to SRCS policies and procedure.
- Ensure completeness of supporting documents in all respect which includes authenticity of signatures, cross-checking attendance sheets and verifying payments made.
- Posting all vouchers into transaction spreadsheet on daily basis for review by the Finance Officer.
- Ensure that all information in the spreadsheet is correct and complete.
- Assist Finance office in monthly bank & account reconciliation.
- Ensure all the financial documents are properly filed & tagged.
- ‘Paid’ stamping of all the invoices and related documents before filing.
- Photocopies & scanning of all necessary documents/Instrument.
Cash Responsibilities
- Receive all in-coming cash for office use.
- Receive and deposit all in-coming from donors or other partners SRCS Accounts.
- Issue cash against properly authorized requests or disbursement vouchers.
- Ensure and maintain security of all cash received.
- Draw cash from the bank as requested by the Admin/Finance Officer, Branch Coordinator or other personnel authorized for that purpose according to the organization’s system.
- Keeping checks when finance documentation is processed.
- Conduct accurate cash counts.
- Cash payments when it is necessary.
- Follow up cash transfers to the SRCS accounts and prepare acknowledgement receipt.
- Ensure essential accuracy and that all sections of the vouchers are completed accurately prior to cash payment.
- Responsible for blank cheques, keys of cash safe box, receiving report, Acknowledge books, stamp and receipts.
Skills and Qualifications
Diploma, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional practice in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics.
Professional trainings
- Basic math skills
- Basic (PC) Computer Knowledge
- Cash handling trainings
Required Job Experience and Competencies
Minimum 2 years of cash handling skills like opening and closing cash registrar, as well as relevant experience with accounting software in a humanitarian or development organization.
Language Requirement.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Somali and English languages
We offer:
SRCS offers a contract of one year, renewable depending on both funding and performance.
Salary and Benefits are according to SRCS terms of employment for national staff.
