About PAH:

Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to make the world a better place. For over 20 years, we have been providing relief in big and small emergencies worldwide alongside running long-term missions in several countries in crisis.

Our interventions – of both humanitarian and development character– have been carried out in 44 countries so far. Our focus is on ensuring sustainable and stable development of regions suffering the consequences of war and/or natural disasters. PAH Mission in Somalia:

PAH has been present in Somalia since 2011. With WASH, FSL, and Nutrition programs PAH supported people from the most vulnerable communities in different regions in Somalia. Our primary focus is to provide safe drinking water through the rehabilitation of water infrastructure, the construction of water distribution systems, and the construction of rainwater reservoirs. In our work, we also focus on other WASH components such as the improvement of sanitary conditions, and hygiene promotion to make our WASH interventions fully comprehensive. In FSL, we implement an unconditional Cash transfer

Our current donors are ECHO, GFFO, SHF, and UNICEF. PAH, programs target the most vulnerable IDPs, hosts, and rural communities as well as institutions in Banadir, Lower Shebelle, Middle Shebelle, and Galmudug Region.

PAH, in Somalia, is looking for an FSL Project Assistant who will become part of our operation team. The person will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct program awareness through community meetings at the beginning of the project at the request of the project officer
  • Organize community public meetings and facilitate the selection of project Village Relief Committee (VRC)
  • In collaboration with the project officer work with communities to develop beneficiary selection criteria and facilitate the committees to identify project beneficiaries in the targeted communities.
  • Ensure the quality benchmarks for project mobilization and sensitization are met.
  • Conduct beneficiaries’ verification processes for all project activities.
  • Ensure timely implementation of planned interventions, as per the work plan under the guidance of the project officer, budgetary standards, and quality benchmarks for the FSL sector.
  • Ensure the full implementation of the cash transfer protocol in line with project planning. Data collection and management
  • Assist project officers in data entry as per request and ensure quality data is provided during the data collection at the field level.
  • Undertake any other data-related duties as assigned by the line manager. Project monitoring and reporting
  • Monitor the day-to-day project activities in the field, as specified in the project plan.
  • Provide Weekly Progress Update Report as requested by the FSL officer
  • In collaboration with the project officer and project manager, participate in the collection of case studies to demonstrate project impact.
  • Monitor and Supervise Cash disbursement and record the complaints from the community. Qualification secondary certificate or diploma in relevant field with 2 years of similar experiences Capacity building
  • Deliver any project training at the community level using agreed training protocols under manager guidelines.
  • Assist project officer conduct regular meetings to capacity build, mentor, assist and supervise beneficiaries on a case management basis, ensuring constant communication with all the beneficiaries.
  • Assist the project manager or officer to develop trust, tolerance, and cooperation among beneficiary community members and local leaders.
  • Work with the MEAL to set up a project complaint response mechanism.
  • Encourage and stimulate full participation by all community members; with special attention to those who are often forgotten, including, disabled women, minorities, and children, in community decision-making.
  • Assist the community members in developing their own capacity and strength.
  • Any other duties as directed by the FSL Project Officer

Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field (Public health, nutrition, food security related field) with 3 years’ experience in similar tasks
  • Knowledge of Cash programming
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and values
  • Readiness to travel including remote areas
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Very good in MS Office
  • Fluent in English and Somali language
  • Ability to work under time constraints in stressful environments.
