BACKGROUND:

Lifeline-Gedo (LLG) is a Humanitarian, Non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to responding to humanitarian emergences through provision of life-saving support mechanisms in partnership with national and international role players, promoting peace and stability, advocate against all kinds of violence, initiate long term and short-term development projects. LLG prioritizes to identify the most appropriate targets for their projects where the poorest communities are suffering most.

Job Title: Gender Based Violence (GBV) Supervisor
Reports to: Health and Nutrition Officer
Direct reports Community Health workers -GBV
Job Location: Belet-Hawo
Contract Details: One Year with possible extension
Job Purpose: 

 

Reporting to Health and Nutrition officer, GBV supervisor is responsible to lead all community awareness activities and work to strengthen community-based protection systems to mitigate and prevent occurrence of GBV. He/she will work closely with community key stakeholder to increase awareness about GBV and engage community leaders to work with LLG.The incumbent takes a substantial representation role for LLG in various GBV and Protection coordination meetings e.g. Protection cluster meeting, and advocate for GBV intervention as need arises.

Liaising with the Health and Nutrition officer, the incumbent develop/revises and adopts guidelines for appropriate integration of GBV interventions with other sectors and plays proactive role adaptation of context based GBV programming in line with standard norms.

Main Duties & 

Responsibilities:

 

Community awareness and mobilization on GBV·         Work with communities to increase awareness about GBV and engage community leaders to work with LLG.

·         Conduct information and awareness sessions with women and girls in the community to disseminate information about available services and key protection concerns.

·         Maintain regular contact with community focal points and community Health workers to ensure a constant flow of information and feedback

·         Identify and engage key stakeholders on gender-based violence

·         Support community Health workers and other community members in developing advocacy messages and strategies to address and/or mitigate risks faced by women, men, girls and boys

Capacity building, information management and learning

·         Conduct training needs assessment, develop training programs and materiel and providing training and mentoring for community health workers.

·         Build and regularly update service mapping.

·         In close collaboration with community key informant conduct regular safety assessments to identify key risks faced by women, men, boy and girls within their community.

·         Facilitate referral of identified needs to humanitarian organizations and other service providers, ensuring follow up and feedback to the community.

Monitoring and evaluation of GBV program activities Risk mitigation activities

·         Develop monitoring and evaluation plan for GBV interventions in close coordination with MEAL Officer/Focal Point.

·         Monitor the implementation of GBV awareness activities and produce Monthly and quarterly reports.

·         Regularly document all the steps undertaken throughout the year

·         Contribute to the preparation and collection of case studies to demonstrate programme impact

OTHER

·         Performs other duties as assigned other than those duties and responsibilities listed above

·         Other tasks as may reasonably be requested by the Health and Nutrition Officer.

Person specification: 

 

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:EDUCATION

·         University degree or advances training/course in social work, counseling and/or psychology. gender studies and/or related field

·         EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

·         On hand experience on CWW’s IYCF curriculums and BCC programming

·         A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the implementation of GBV intervention.

·         Having advanced Trained on GBV.

DESIRABLE AND SPECIAL SKILLS

·         Computer skills: e.g., MS Excel, Word

·         Good interpersonal and communication skills

·         Ability and willingness to interact successfully and respectfully with people at all levels and from all backgrounds

·         Ability to work under pressure and without constant supervision.

·         Flexibility and ability to carry out additional duties and tasks as required and adapt to a changing operational environment

·         Innovative and proactive with a positive attitude
