Head of Marketing and Public Relations – Hargeisa, Somaliland
Position Two Title: Head of Marketing and Public Relations
The Head of Marketing and Public Relations Office is responsible for planning, developing and implementing all of the University’s marketing strategies, corporate communications, and public relations activities. He/she oversees the obligations of the marketing, communications and public relations staff and coordinates at the strategic and technical levels with the other functions of the University.
Responsibilities:
- creates, implements and measures the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the University’s image and position within the marketplace to the general public, and facilitates internal and external communications;
- serves as the responsible party for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all University soft and hard copies of publications;
- coordinates media interest in the University and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests;
- ensures that the University regularly conducts relevant market research and coordinate and oversees the activities to monitor trends;
- develops short- and long-term plans and budgets for the marketing, communications, public relations program and activities, monitors and reports the progress, assures adherence and evaluates performance;
- keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations, not-for-profit management and governance, and the specific business of the University and use this information to help the University operate with initiative and innovation.
Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications: Master’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations preferred. Graduate degree in a related field is desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the not-for-profit or association sector.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities.
- Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.
- Experience developing and managing budgets, and costs.
- Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.
- Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
- Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout.
- Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.

Mode of Employment: Fulltime with 3 months of probation period
Place of Work: Hargeisa, Somaliland
