PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The HR Officer has the overall responsibility of assisting a smooth implementation of day-to-day Human Resource and ensuring implementation of the organization and donor’s rules and regulations as well as ALIGHT HR policies & procedure.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Human Resources Officer is responsible for day-to-day Human Resources operations and activities will closely work with the Human HR & Capacity Building Coordinator.
- Ensure compliance with ALIGHT policies and the local labor law in all procedures and
- Be a focal point person in the recruitment, contracting, induction and placement activities in Addis and support field offices in recruitment when
- Advice and support line manager in the recruitment and selection processes
- Ensure that all new staffs have filled ID forms and make sure every staff has the organization ID
- Provide administrative support to projects in all Human Resources functions in consultation with the HR & Capacity Building Coordinator.
- Assist in advertisement of open positions as appropriate by identifying relevant advertising forums ensure that all vacancy bulletins are circulated to relevant
- Support the HR & Capacity Building Coordinator on Human Resources arrangement, including preparation of appropriate documents and liaising with candidates as
- Ensure that the induction package is maintained and kept up to date including coordinating all the inductions and
- Work with HR & Capacity Building Coordinator to maintain the staff database and the personnel files for all staff in the
- Coordinator with HR & Capacity Building Coordinator on contracts update, probation dates, Performance review dates and constantly ensures that the contracts database is up to date for
- Liaise with Finance department and provide payroll information by collecting staffs’ timesheet records and other monthly staff updates needed for payroll
- Coordinate trainings at field level working closely with HR & Capacity Building Coordinator, Area Manager, and line managers to ensure all trainings undertaken are recorded and submitted for reference and certification where
- Monitor leave balances such as annual leaves, sick leaves and unpaid leaves and advise staff and managing
- To ensure that when a member of staff separates from ALIGHT exit interviews and clearance is conducted, equipment or documents are retrieved, final payments have been arranged with Finance and that the personal file is
- Prepare Monthly Human Resources reports and share with them with the HR & Capacity Building Coordinator and Finance Department.
Skills and Qualifications
Professional Competencies
- BA Degree in Human Resources Management/Management
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Human Resources
- Experience from working as a Support Function Officer in a humanitarian/recovery
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile
- Documented results related to the position’s
- Good knowledge of English
Key Behaviors and Abilities:
- Understanding of the relevant laws and statutory
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Wide knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector
- A strong administrative service orientation
- Excellent coordination and communication skills
- Should have good documentation and dissemination / presentation skills
- Should be able to live, work and travel in an insecure environment, always following strict security
- Proven capacity to work in a quickly moving, unstable situation and work against targeted outputs with tight time frames and deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work in a multi-cultural
