| The 2018-2022 country program interventions will support the Government in the 2030 Agenda, move towards Djibouti’s Vision 2035 and the SCAPE Strategy, and contribute to UNDAF 2018-2022 outcomes in the UNDP 2018-2020 Strategic Plan. The new program is based on: (i) employment opportunities Strengthening livelihoods and access to basic health services; ii) Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience, Food Security and iii) Enabling and Inclusive Governance Framework for Sustainable Development.Also, in recent years, the portfolio of projects with greater scope. The government commissioned UNDP to formulate the GEF STAR allocation, the Green Climate Fund and the Global Fund program which represents an important pipeline. The financial volume of the program has increased. In recent years, it has been considerably executed (delivery).
The implementation of the program and the development of the pipeline have resulted in a significant amount of work. The Government and UNDP would increase efforts and put in place the appropriate means to achieve the assigned programmatic objectives. With this in mind, there is a time to strengthen the program team and especially the Environment and Change component. The goal of reinforcement that materializes by the recruitment of an intern for Environment and Climate Change. Under the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist of climate change and environment, the main task of the is to manage ongoing projects in the environment and climate change portfolio in a rigorous and transparent manner.

| Objective of the InternshipEnhance the educational experience of graduate students through practical and guided hands-on exposure and involvement in UNDP’s development projects in Djibouti;
Provide graduate students with an exposure to the working environment of a multilateral organization and a better understanding of UNDP Djibouti’s goals and activities. Functions/Duties and Output Expectations Under the direct supervision of the Programme specialist, the intern is expected to perform the following tasks:

Computer proficiency: MS Office Eligibility and skills Eligibility: Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent); (c) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation; (d) Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. |

| Language:Fluency in written and spoken French. Fluency in English desirable.
Education: Master’s degree in the field of environmental sciences and management. Interns’ Expenses/Arrangements:
UNDP accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal effects that may occur during the internship. Subsequent Employment: The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship Only those candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted for interview. Before being offered a Letter of Acceptance for Internship, the selected candidate will have to provide the following additional documents: A Medical Certificate of Good Health from a recognized physician. If the intern is expected to travel outside the country of their residence, other than to Europe and North America, the physician must indicate whether s/he is for to travel and has the required inoculations for the country to which they are to travel; Proof of both Medical and Life Insurance cover valid for the duration of the internship programme.
