It has been implementing development projects in Somaliland since 2001. Multi-sectoral projects have been carried out in the Awdal, Marodijeh, Togdheer & Sanaag Regions for the past 20 years.
Description of the of the project and the bid
Jarahoroto is a dry or semi-dry village under Baki district and the community is agro-pastoralist and consist of around 150HH (source: UCT beneficiary list, 2020). There is a high scarcity of water in the village and the nearest water source is 5 km away from the village.
The community have been practiced rain-fed farms and therefore, WHH is planning to provide water for this vulnerable community in the village due to the fact that water is distant from the household females fetch water by using donkeys.
WHH is now going to construct a Berkad in jarahoroto village. Therefore, all competent contractors with similar construction experience are invited to apply for this tender. Tender dossiers are available on our online platform (E-tender) and can be downloaded from there.
The new interventions to be done will compose of the following activities:
- Site clearance: removal trees and levelling of the bed (15m x 15m)
- Excavation of the main berkad with dimensions of 12.8 m long, 6.8 m wide and 4.5 deep and Silt trap with dimensions of 3.3 m long, 3.3 m wide and 2.5 m deep
- Excavation of the feed channels
- Putting 10cm thick concrete above the hardcore
- Laying 20cm thick C-20 concrete with a mixing ratio of 1:2:4, with #12mm@20cm C/C in the shorter and longer side of the barked
- 40cm thick hard basaltic or equivalent stone masonry wall to a depth of 4.5m bedded and jointed in cement sand mortar 1:4 with 1m height gamble wall for roofing of the barked.
- Construction of six columns at of the Barked (0.4m*0.2m*4.5m*4Pcs)
- Construction of staircase (3.6m *0.6m *4m)
- Construction of walls silt trapping basin (2.5m *2m*0.4m)
- Construction of lead channel 8×0.6×0.6
- Construction of lead channel silt trapping basin to the Barked (1 *8m * 0.4m * 0.6m)
- Laying of 5cm thick lean concrete beyond the spill way embedded on a 10cm thick hard core (3m * 3m * 0.05m)
- Laying 5cm thick lean concrete around the masonry wall to protect the masonry wall and the backfilled soil from the floods (2 m*14 m*0.05 m)
- Laying 5 cm thick lean concrete between channel walls and wing walls (3 m* 8 m*0.05 m)
- Applying 3 coats of plastering in the inner masonry walls and outer walls of the Barked where necessary silt trapping basin, channel walls and wing walls
- Fixing trusses and roofing, the wood will be red wood and corrugated iron sheet shall be 28 gauge with red wood trusses please refer to the plan
- Providing one gate for the inlet and one gate for outlet
- Construction of two access points of water (2No * 1.2m*1.2m * 0.8m)
- pouring 20 m3 of water to the main barked after finishing for testing any leakage for the slab
Curing of the construction on daily basis (twice a day)
Note: All the corresponding documents for the construction of the Berkad for the respective village are uploaded to our E-tender system and can be downloaded from there. Also, the required criteria for the bid has been explicitly shown in the bid dossiers. The contractor must fulfill the minimum tender criteria as outlined in the tender documents and failure to do this will be subject to automatic disqualification.
Special attention
Quantities and contents of the listed assortment is subject to no alteration. Welthungerhilfe
reserves the right to divide the orders into lots and to award the lots into different suppliers.
However, Welthugerhilfe prefers to place the order with one suppler only. All the relevant information is indicated in the bid documents. Furthermore, all bidders are also required to meet the minimum tender requirements as shown in the bid dossiers. Welthungerhilfe will strictly check the these criterium and most notably the supplier who fits the bid requirements will be deemed as a winner.
