JOB SUMMARY
The Lutheran World Federation, Kenya-Somalia Program – IT Officer – Kismayu (Open to Somali Nationals Only)
The Department of World Service (WS) of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is the humanitarian and development arm of the Lutheran World Federation. WS provides support to refugees, returnees, internally displaced people, their host communities and communities at risk, focusing on livelihoods, quality services, protection and social cohesion. The Kenya-Somalia Program has been implementing such interventions in Kenya and Somalia since 1992.
The Kenya-Somalia program of LWF WS is seeking a qualified, experienced, and highly motivated IT Officer who will be responsible for user/technical support and maintenance of the entire ICT infrastructure systems for the LWF Somalia sub-Program and support Jubaland Teachers Training College as an instructor/tutor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
At organizational level;
Manage and administer server services i.e active directory, Hyper V via group policies and offer background office support of the centralized finance ERP software (Sage, Paresys, ODOO) and self-service portal support for ODOO users
Helpdesk – Addresses and resolves incidents & requests, document all incidents and requests; engages other service desk resources or appropriate service resources to resolve incidents that are beyond the scope of their ability or responsibility
Working together with Senior IT officer in Identifying, assessing and controlling risks through analyzing incidences and problem raised through the help desk and evaluate the impact of on our operation and coming up with mitigation procedures that will help in reducing negative impact
Carry out preventive maintenance services on our systems and replacing the necessary parts when the need arises
Ensuring business continuity by conducting and maintaining Data backups, backup testing and data restore per the disaster recovery policy and procedures
Maintain accurate records both in soft and hard copies to support a detailed inventory of hardware and software within the program area.
Ensure effective functioning (installation, operation and maintenance) of all hardware equipment, software, and recommend acquisition of hardware and software following a proper assessment of the current equipment.
Maintain the security and integrity of the Local Area network through the prudent administration of firewall (Sophos) and round the clock monitoring of the network performance through vulnerability scanning, anti-virus system and ensuring that our systems are running on the latest update patch
Conduct IT induction for all new staff (setting up email accounts, laptops and desktop, staff badges, ODOO self-service portal, one drive Back up procedure, introduction to heavy duty printer usage & sharing out ICT policy)
Internet services – ensure that internet connectivity is always stable and whenever it is down, work with the service provider to restore it
Manage & maintain the Local Area Network, extend it when need arise, configure systems, emails and support provision of shareable Local Area Network services i.e Printer, scanners
Work with procurement & logistics office in the procurement of all ICT hardware and software, checking for and ensuring specification compliance.
Prepare, review and monitor the ICT annual budget in consultation with Finance office
Ensure adherence of ICT policy
Any other duty as assigned by the immediate supervisor
At College Level;
Planning lessons and activities that facilitate students’ acquisition of basic and advanced computer skills.
Instructing in a manner that develops students’ confidence in their abilities.
Observing and managing classroom dynamics.
Invigilating and grading projects, quizzes, and examinations.
Tracking and communicating students’ advancement throughout the course.
Ensuring that the computer laboratory remains free from food and drink at all times.
Downloading important software updates and maintaining hardware.
Attending parent-teacher and faculty conferences.
To undertake the following unit as below;

- Database – Ms Access, Ms Sql & Ms Oracle
- Computer Essentials (Hardware A+)
- Computer Networking & carry out practicals (N+)
- Online collaboration + Networking
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or related field
At least 3 years of progressive working experience in ICT
Relevant Professional certifications – CompTIA A+, N+, CCNA, ICDL, MoL, MCSA/MCSE, Microsoft 365, Security Administrator Associate, Oracle Certification
Teaching certification for the level at which you will be instructing.
Prior experience as a computer teacher.
Excellent presentation abilities.
Strong written and administrative skills.
Nurturing, adaptable approach to instructing.
Passionate about fostering computer literacy and academic excellence.
Must be registered and a member of a IT/Related professional body with a valid practice license.
