MUDRO operates emergency response programs in areas like WASH, nutrition, health, shelter, protection, and food security. They also assist internally displaced women and girls by providing access to safe spaces and case management.
The organization is currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced IYCF- Midwife to support the implementation of their Nutrition program in Kismayo IYCF- Midwife will work closely with the Senior Nutrition Officer technical staff, operations team, and local stakeholders.

The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
Job Summary:
The IYCF Midwife is responsible for providing comprehensive, high-quality infant and young child feeding support and counseling to mothers and caretakers. The IYCF Midwife plays a critical role in promoting optimal breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices to improve the health and nutrition of infants and young children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one counseling and support to pregnant women, new mothers, and caregivers on recommended IYCF practices, including:
– Exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life
– Timely introduction of safe and nutritious complementary foods at 6 months
– Continued breastfeeding up to 2 years of age or beyond
– Responsive feeding and appropriate feeding for sick and malnourished children
- Conduct home visits and follow-up with mothers and caretakers to monitor IYCF practices, identify challenges, and provide personalized support.
- Facilitate group education sessions and cooking demonstrations on optimal IYCF for mothers, fathers, and other family members.
- Collaborate with community health workers, traditional birth attendants, and other frontline workers to identify and refer pregnant women, new mothers, and children requiring IYCF support.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of IYCF counseling sessions, home visits, and referrals.
- Participate in regular monitoring and evaluation activities to assess the coverage and quality of IYCF services.
- Contribute to the development and adaptation of IYCF communication materials and job aids.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to continuously enhance IYCF knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
– Diploma in midwifery, nursing, or a related healthcare field
– Certification or training in lactation management and IYCF counseling
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with mothers, families, and community members
– Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving the health and nutrition of infants and young children
– Proficiency in the Somali local language(s) and ability to work in the community
