About WARDI
WARDI Relief and Development Initiatives a non-profit, non-governmental organization that is a brainchild of a group of professionals from Somalia with different professional skills and abilities to respond to dire humanitarian situation in Somalia after the civil war broke out. With collapse of both public and private institutions and destruction of infrastructure, many people affected and displaced by the war including children and women faced life threatening humanitarian conditions. Wardi was borne out of the urgent need to respond to that situation, alleviate suffering, and save lives. Through the expertise of those who formed, partners and well-wishers, Wardi responded to needs ranging from education, protection, water and sanitation, health, agriculture, and environmental conservation. Wardi Relief and Development Initiatives was founded in June 1993 and is registered in Somalia with the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Federal Government and in Kenya with the NGO Coordination Board. Wardi focuses on supporting the most vulnerable among the communities affected by both man-made and natural disaster through innovative programs that build livelihoods and improves resilience. These programs include provision of technical trainings, cash-based interventions, income generating activities, skills development, and community health. To achieve this, Wardi employs community-based approach in program to identify real problems and find appropriate and sustainable solutions. Wardi also involves communities in planning, implementation and monitoring of its programs for transparency and accountability.
In the past five years, Somalia has made progress in key sectors such as Governance, Security and justice following successful presidential and parliamentary elections in late 2016. These changes have resulted in significant economic, political, and social growth that has rejuvenated the hopes and aspiration for Somalis for stronger, secure, and prosperous nation. WARDI is playing a critical role in supporting the government to translate these legitimate aspirations to reality by partnering in critical sectors such as water and sanitation, education, health, and food security to sustain positive trajectory through the line ministries and federal member states. Our partnership and support with the government of Somalia is contributing to the re-emergence of a strong government and community structures that can withstand the taste of time.

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Logistic and Procurement Manager, Logistic and Procurement Officer will responsible for efficient and effective management of logistical and Procurement functions.
Main responsibilities towards this project includes but not limited to:
- Ensure the proper functioning of supply chain including procurement planning, purchasing of goods and services, their transport and storage, evaluate/report the need and ensure the proper use of equipment, assess and ensure the functioning of the means of communication appropriate.
- Ensuring logistical function are carried out with the framework of WADI’s procedures and standards.
- Implement concern’s procurement policies and procedures -as per manual.
- Receiving, checking and timely delivering of supplies and equipment to final destinations
- main regular stock reports on all movement in and out of the store, and up to date stock cards for all items safeguarding supplies and equipment either in WARDI stores and route to other locations.
- Ensuring proper logistics filling system are in place all the time.
- in accordance with WARDI’s logistic and procurement process and undertake all purchase.
- Ensuring proper utilization of all logistical documents GRN and stock cards.
- Manage Procurement documentation to ensure that all paperwork is complete.
- Monitor fuel price, consumption rate, prepare monthly fuel consumption sheets for accounts submission
- Ensure WARDI transport and rented vehicles are used solely for official business
- Monitor transport movement and ensure vehicle remain in good condition
- Ensure WARDI vehicles are properly maintained and their insurance cover are renewed on timely manner
Effective and timely handling of grievances between drivers and employee
On quarterly basis, maintain accurate and up to date fixed asset and inventory on all WARDI’s property
Monitor security situation regularly and report accordingly.
Keep staff updated on security issues and give advices where needed. Give security briefing to international staff, consultants and visitors
Ensure staff are aware of office safety measures and undertake drills periodically
Maintain regular radio contract with vehicle and field office
Skills and Qualifications
Competence, experience, skills, knowledge needed
- University degree in Procurement and Logistics, Economics, Business administration or equivalent in relevant field).
- Three years of working experience in logistic Area
- Substantial knowledge of standard logistics procedures and practices required.
- Ability to extract, interpret, analyze data and resolve problems.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills
- Competency in computer skills including MS Office.
- Fluency in English and Somali
