SOS CVI is a Global Federation of National and Member Associations working in 137 countries and territories with focus to provide alternative care for children who have lost parental care, or at risk of losing. SOS-Kinderdorf International, also known as “SOS Children’s Villages International” is an association duly established under the laws of Austria, registered under the Austrian register of associations with registration number (ZVR-Zahl) 083115702, with its registered office at Hermann-Gmeiner-Straße 51, 6020 Innsbruck, Austria.
SOS Children’s Villages in Somalia is a Member Association of the Global Federation which has officially been working in Somalia since 1984. the organization pioneered a family approach to the long-term care of orphaned and abandoned children in Somalia. SOS Children’s Villages in Somalia current works in three federal states and the capital city; Banadir Regions (Heliwa, Garasbaley,Kahda, Dharkenley and Daynile districts) southwest-state (Bay and Bakool regions) Hirshabelle State (Middle-Shabelle region). SOS has a zero-tolerance policy on child safeguarding and prevention of sexual harassment and exploitation at work place.

Job Title: Logistic intern
Report to: Area Logistics and Admin Officer
Location: Heliwa
Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the logistics officer, be responsible for ensuring and maintaining effective systems that is in line with SOS logistics policy and procedures based on best value for money in price, quality, quantity, delivery time etc. Actively engage in Procurement and Documentation, scanning filing and recording of documents, provide support to the project staff,
Roles and Responsibilities
GENERAL
Efficient and effective assistant of the day-to-day logistical functions on the SOS premises.
Assist that all requests have proper specifications for all goods and services being sought, that quote requests are sent in a timely manner to all relevant suppliers/service providers, that all potential suppliers’ queries are answered promptly and comprehensively and that quotes received are properly filed.
Providing any necessary assistant of required logistical support to all SOS Somalia programmes & projects.
Assist closely with location logistic activities as required and instructed by the line manager.
Comply with policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, procurement and logistics, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
Ensure that all work is carried out in a way that is sensitive to community needs and gender and children’s issues. In particular, to promote the full and equal participation of women and children in all aspects of the work.
Within reason, implement additional actions and responsibilities, as requested by your line manager
WAREHOUSING
Assist receiving and checking deliveries to ensure that the correct amount and type of stock is delivered.
Assist issuing and signing delivery notes upon receipt of shipments.
Unpacking medical and nonmedical supply and arranging those on shelves, as instructed.
Preparing clients’ orders by gathering and loading stock.
Ensuring that the facility remains clean, sanitary, and well-organized.
Reporting all breakages and spills.
PURCHASING
In accordance with SOS procurement procedures, assist effective and timely purchasing of requested supplies and equipment for the projects and offices.
support in completing paperwork and documentation
assist for the review, verification, and reconciliation of procurement documents
Carry out clerical work, including typing, proofreading, and editing documents,
assist proper utilization of all logistical documents; GDN, GRN, SR, Stock cards etc in all programme areas and offices.
Assist handling the SOS logistics worksheet / track sheet and manage procurement documentation to ensure that all paperwork is complete, suppliers are paid in a timely manner and that all relevant parties are aware of the status of requests.
Assist update on Local potential suppliers and market price index as instructed by the line supervisor.
assist the administration of files and relevant documents, including the filing, scanning documents, physically and electronically;
assist ensuring that quote requests have proper specifications for all goods and services being sought, that quote requests are sent in a timely manner to all relevant suppliers/service providers, that all potential suppliers queries are answered promptly and comprehensively and that quotes and support documents received are properly filed.
Transport and Distribution
Assist in collecting/delivering mail to deliver to courier service on a regular basis including
government offices and concerned agencies
Ensure that the log books of the Organization cars are regularly and properly filled and cared
Help to organize safe reception of goods in the organization’s warehouses, fill, sign from recipient and file the goods delivery notes.
Assist in ensuring that the performance of vehicle/transportation management and allocation of drivers for daily movements are maintained to the best level.
Assist monitor and evaluate drivers’ performance, fuel consumption and vehicle maintenance and repairs records.
Prepare vehicle re-fuel request coupon, file the copy of receipts do recording, monitor the consumption
Assist maintain a vehicle movement board. Plan all vehicle movements considering security a prime concern
Assist and Organize sending and receiving medical supplies and cargoes to other SOS facilities and distribution sites whenever necessary.
Skills and Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Logistics interns are required to have at least a High School diploma or equivalent academic qualification plus additional specialized courses or Associates degree in related field.
Skills: Must have knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) good understanding or experience of managing drivers and warehouse employees
having sound driving skill and valid driving license will adds additional advantages , having technical back ground complements extra rewards
advanced PC skills and working knowledge of software packages, especially in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
character: must have solid interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the various parties he/she contact in the course of work and being fast learner.
must be well organized, obedient in all instructions of his supervisor able to work in stressful situations.
Have at least one-year experience of logistic issues and able to facilitate issues on logistic and procurement business.
