The collapse of the Somalia government in 1991 dragged Somalia into a miserable state
characterized by chronic insecurity, massive displacement and lack of adequate access to basic
human needs such as Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, Protection and Food Security and Livelihood.
Amid this horrific state young Somali nationals established SORDES which stands for Somali Relief and Development Society is a non-political, not-for-profit, and non-religious Somalia NGO, was established in South-central Somalia region in June 2006 by a group of concerned Somali intellectuals to respond to increased suffering, starvation and death of the communities badly affected by the civil conflict and famine in Somalia through the establishment of community-based rehabilitation and development projects.
Thus, SORDES has been present in most part of Somalia since 2006 addressing the humanitarian needs of the utmost vulnerable communities.
1. Logistic officer
Purpose of the post
He / she will be responsible for supporting SORDES logistics and managing Supplies. The focus will be to facilitate the logistics for SORDES staff and SORDES premises in Badhade/kulbiyow. He/she will also support the Somalia program in logistics and supply chain.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ø Prepares and supervises the written contracts when necessary (supply contracts, transport contracts services contracts)
Ø Ensures the good use and maintenance of computer equipment and accessories.
Ø Ensure proper allocation and follow up of equipment to SORDES staff, (including recording, issuance and accountability
Ø Ensures the stock management
Ø Assets and furniture management Updating and maintenance of the SORDES asset register
Ø Registration, tagging and follow up of equipment in accordance to SORDES procedures
Ø Follow-up of the equipment status and documentation (use, working condition, warranty, costs). Responsible for organization and follow-up of preventive maintenance & repair of equipment and assets.
Ø Ensures vehicles allocation as per the needs of the project
Ø Ensures that transport for people and goods (including nutrition supplies, and WASH kits) are organized on a timely manner
Ø Responsible for the maintenance of project vehicles and follow up of spare parts.
Ø Management of drivers and ensure that drivers conduct daily/weekly vehicle checks and maintenance. Supervise activities of drivers and ensure that vehicle logbooks are well maintained.
Ø Fill in the vehicle monthly follow-up document and submit to the Project manager on time.
Ø Ensure proper movement planning for drivers and SORDES staff.
Ø Check and follow through fuel consumption for SORDES vehicles.
Ø Transmit a fuel consumption report to the Finance manager and the project manager on a monthly basis
Ø Support on the joint project stock management and follow-up (inventories, stock cards, packing list, making sure the real stock correspond to the stock records): in terms of proper usage of tools and analysis of stock consumption.
Ø Maintain and update inventory list for the coordination office and the HQ. Regularly check inventory levels / conducting physical counts at the coordination office and the HQ.
Ø Receive orders: Check the number of packages, check packaging and content and inform the logistic coordinator, Supplier and requester of any problems (missing or damaged goods, etc.).
Ø Ensure that the commodities received are well stored and update the stock cards while recording the reference number of the receipt document.
Ø Ensure that all items are well organized and correctly stored, well protected, fully identified and easily accessible (cleanliness, security, access, etc.).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or Procurement and Supplies Management Certification in Purchasing and Supplies Management or Logistics, is an added advantage
Have a Valid driving license with practical driving experience for both manual and automatic vehicles Desirable of 5 years’ practical experience in logistics management in an NGO
At least 2 years in a Logistics officer position in an NGO in Somalia
Should be a Somali National
