About Us:

INTERNATIONAL WARS AND DISASTERS VICTIMS’ PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (IRVD) is a non -governmental organization established by a group of volunteers in Syria during the crisis in 2012 and registered in the USA, Sweden, and turkey.

IRVD is implementing projects through regional offices in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, and Somalia.

Our work sectors are Health, Nutrition, Education, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Protection, Shelter &Non-food items, Wash and Sanitation.

IRVD also manages development projects, advocates to empower civil societies and local governance

Job Description

IRVD is seeking a Media Coordinator who will manage all IRVD-related activities in Somalia, including Design, develop and implement the information strategy for the project

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating the work of field teams and securing the security link to the beneficiary areas, and securing photographic approvals from the concerned authorities
  • Designing brochures and posters for the project (brochures – stickers – roll-ups – training designs, and any other plans that are requested)
  • Direct coordination with the project manager.
  • Design, develop and implement the information strategy for the Society’s project.
  • Definition and allocation of functions and responsibilities of the Field Information Team
  • Writing and coordinating human and success stories of reviewed and utilized cases of the Organization’s services
  • Addressing and bringing out high-quality products, images, and reports in line with the Society’s media policy.
  • Daily reports on the tasks and work done during the day to manage the project and the technical officer
  • Communicating with media organizations (international, Arab, and local) to invite them periodically to cover the activities of the Center and establish the necessary reports on that.
  • Dissemination of news reports and press releases on the activities and achievements of the project to news agencies and related agencies

Ability to:

  • Ability to work in a stressful setting and adapt quickly to changing environments
  • Ability to conduct work in a professional and mature manner
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and work under pressure with deadlines.

Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Certificate in media, photography, or equivalent, prefer master degree
  • At least five years’ experience in the field, preferably in a relief environment.
  • Experience working with a relief and rehabilitation NGO or an agency working in the field of humanitarian aid.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian basics and international humanitarian protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of Photoshop or other photography software
  • Knowledge of the production process for online publishing and various print applications

Languages:

  • Arabic and English are mandatory (oral and written)
