Regional Medical Officer
INTERNAL & EXTERNAL VACANCY ADVERTISMENT
The Ministry of Health Development, Republic of Somaliland requires the following position to work in Las Anod General Hospital wards (ITFC, pediatric and measles isolation ward); these departments are supported by Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) – MSF is an international, medical, private, non-governmental and non-profit humanitarian organization. Potential applicants can be external or existing employees of the Las Anod Hospital. Selected candidates will be seconded by MoHD to work in the MSF supported department for specific duration:
Job Title : Medical Doctor – (Based in Lasanod with possible frequent travel around Sool region)
Number of positions : 4 Four
Level : 9 (on MoHD Seconded Staff daily wages Pay-scale)
Work Location : Las-Anod General Hospital, Sool region, Somaliland.
Start date : Immediately after recruitment process
Length of contract : None contracted – Daily wages position
The selected candidate will be reporting to Hospital Director (Hierarchically) & Medical supervisor (Functionally).
Main Purpose:
In collaboration with the international staff MD & Dep MAM , ensure proper medical intervention, supervision and the clinical management of patient care in the Hospital department assigned (ITFC ward , paediatric and measles isolation ward).
Diagnose and treat the majority of the most common diseases.
Manage patient by providing quality care to the patients in accordance with MSF protocols.
Specific Responsibilities and Tasks:
- General Knowledge of MSF and Safety at work
Comply with the health and safety rules.
Ensure all staff complies with the health and safety rules related to the job. Respect medical ethics at all times
- Isolation ward
Do the medical round on a scheduled basis with nurses on duty Prescribe treatment according to MSF guidelines and protocols
Supervise the admission and discharge of patients, prescription of medications and other routine procedures
Responsible for nutritional and medical treatment in measles/ITFC.
Involvement of the staff in the planning, providing feedback of the past month achievements, and to regularly evaluate the achievements according to set indicators.
Work closely with the DMAM to improve general organization, medical-and nursing procedures in the ward.
Ensure proper administration of the patient card, admission / discharge book. To participate in the respective wards meetings.
To be on call after working hours.
- Training
To participate in trainings given to Nurses and other staff organised in the hospital.
Identify training needs and perform trainings for staff as necessary in collaboration with the other DMAM and international staff doctor
Regional Medical Officer
- Management issues
To supervise the care and hygiene activities of the medical staff in the respective wards To counsel patients or care-taker who are inclined to default
- Additional Tasks:
Be flexible and be able to give assistance with different activities not included in this primary job description
Regularly actively participate in the medical meeting
This job description is subject to amendment depending upon the ongoing requirements of the project.
