BACKGROUND

The Jarriiban University (hereinafter referred to as “JU”) is a non-profit making private university established in 2019. The JU main campus is located in the corner of Jarriiban city specially the East, and plans are ongoing to open a new campus in Galkacyo, the region capital of Mudug. The university has its building with classroom block, Auditorium, Administration and Finance block, library, Health Science Lab. JIU is committed to spreading beneficial knowledge that is easily affordable and will benefit not only individual students but also empower entire communities. Position: Medical Laboratory Science Lecturer

Location: Jarriiban, Mudug Region, Puntland State of Somalia

Reporting to: The head of the Health Science Department

We are looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Science Lecturer to join our team and to make a significant contribution to the vision and direction of the Jarriiban University, where innovative and inspirational learning for all is the core value. The role of the Medical Laboratory Science Lecturer is to develop and foster the appropriate Laboratory skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of students.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Prepare and teach assigned courses in accordance with course outlines and published course schedule.
2. Maintain accurate records for each course taught.
3. Prepare, review, and update course outlines on a regular basis.
4. Recommend and assist with curriculum revisions as necessary.
5. Assist in student recruitment, advising, and retention.
6. Serve on University standing committees and attend meetings.
8. Assist in the selection and ordering of equipment, supplies, and textbooks.
11. Cooperate in scheduled student evaluations of instructor and course.
14. Attend instructor and departmental meetings as scheduled.
15. Be responsible for students’ professional development and maintaining professional competence.
16. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others.
