Aamin Organization is a Not for Profit Organization in Somalia established in 2006. AAMIN Organization is engaged in life-saving activities and on improving the livelihoods of Somalia communities through implementation of the following programs; Food Security, Health, Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH), Youth-Empowerment Programs and Provision of free Ambulance services to the communities in Somalia. AAMIN Organization has received financing from Somali Humanitarian Funds (SHF) to implement a health project “Provision of Emergency and Essential Health Care Services through Mobile medical services and free ambulance services to IDPs and hard-to reach host communities in Mudug region (Galkayo South)”. In that regard, AAMIN wishes to hire two (2) qualified nurses on a contract basis for a period of 12 Months.

Position: MIDWIFE (2 Positions)

Overall Job Purpose
The successful candidates will provide comprehensive advice, care and support to women and their babies during pregnancy, labor and early postnatal period. Further they will conduct a clean, safe delivery and provide care to newborns and refer emergency cases to effectively prevent maternal, neonatal mortality & morbidity in compliance with SRCS health policy guidelines and established midwifery care standards and treatment protocols.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Program Implementation
Diagnose, examine monitor and assess care requirements for women during labour and prepare a care plan for childbirth including advice on hygiene and nutrition
Identify women with greater vulnerability and risks and refer them for specialized care provider
Provide information, emotional support and reassurance to women in labour and their partners
Monitor and administer medication, injections and intravenous infusions during labour
Provide support to women during labour and birth to ensure normal delivery of the new born
Manage complications in childbirth, according to the principles of obstetric care
Support parents to cope with miscarriage, termination, stillbirth and neonatal death
Monitor progress of the mother during postnatal period and advice on infant care
Raise requisitions for replenishment of drugs, consumable supplies for childbirth and care
Compile accurate data on all childbirth cases and prepare monthly reports
Attend deliveries both normal & obstetric emergencies
Work day shifts and night shifts as per the Rota
Educational Qualifications & Professional Training
Degree / Diploma in Nursing/Midwifery with experience in maternal and child Health or
equivalent qualifications
Certification/Licensing: Registered Midwife
Relevant Experience:
Minimum 3 years relevant experience working as midwife in a hospital or primary health care settings.
Minimum 2 years managing labour and delivery, including monitoring vital signs, assessing progress as well as physically managing deliveries
Job Competencies
Demonstrate knowledge and commitment to the fundamental principles of a health provider
Effective communications and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate conflict resolution skills
Competent in group dynamics
Proficient in computer office packages word, excel, power point.
Language Requirement: Demonstrate proficiency in Somali and English languages
