Job Description

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Internal and external candidates will be considered for this vacancy. For the purposes of this vacancy, internal candidates are defined as staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded or ungraded contract, including Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), staff on Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), and staff members on secondment/loan released by the Organization, unless otherwise specified in their contract. Staff members holding a regular, fixed-term or short-term graded contract will not retain their contract type if appointed to an ungraded position.

Context:

The Media and Communications Division (MCD) of IOM is comprised of experienced communications professionals based in Geneva as well as various regional offices. The team provides advice and support on media and public information issues to IOM Headquarters and missions worldwide. It is responsible for media relations as well as producing a variety of other public information materials, including official statements to mark special events, information folders, fact sheets and press briefing notes on specific IOM activities for both online and offline communications outlets.

The “It Takes A Community Campaign” (ITAC) is an ongoing global campaign whose aim is to balance the public narrative about migration and migrants worldwide, with a view towards fostering inclusive societies, supporting diversity, and contributing to sustainable development and innovation.

The Multimedia Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Digital Campaigns Project Officer.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Revamp the current ITAC campaign visual identity.
  2. Create a set of social media cards templates in various formats for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
  3. Create video tutorials on how to use the templates.
  4. Create a set of static and animated social media cards to promote ITAC on various platforms.
  5. Create new videos to promote ITAC campaign.
  6. Create new illustrative banners for the ITAC website.
  7. Create and populate dedicated ITAC Trello boards.
  8. Edit campaign videos.
  9. Develop animated graphics to promote the campaign on social media (GIFs, vertical stories etc.).
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisors.

Skills and Qualifications

Education

  • University degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Arts, Video Editing, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years relevant work experience; or
  • Completed High school / Secondary school education with five years of relevant experience.

Experience

  • Experience in developing visual identities and style guides;
  • Experience in editing videos.

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative software (Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop and Premiere); Aftereffect and Canvas skills will be an asset;
  • Strong creative skills and knowledge of the digital graphic art industry;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.

For all applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
