BACKGROUND
The Somali Development and Reconstruction Bank (SDRB) is the national development finance institution dedicated to promoting inclusive economic growth and reducing poverty. The Bank plays a pivotal role in advancing Somalia’s key sectors including agriculture, livestock and fisheries, renewable energy and infrastructure while catalyzing private investment across the country. SDRB is currently implementing an ambitious reform agenda to modernize its operations and strengthen institutional effectiveness. This includes a comprehensive organizational restructuring, and the adoption of robust governance frameworks aligned with international best practices.
To deliver on its mandate, the Bank is expanding its team with highly qualified professionals in finance, economics, administration and business development. The primary objective of the Multimedia Officer is to enhance the SDRB’s external visibility and internal communications through professional, compelling, and consistent visual assets. This role is crucial for maintaining a strong professional image and ensuring strict adherence to the Bank’s brand guidelines across all digital and print platforms. The role targets communication needs for global investors, partner governments, development organizations, and the general public, focusing on the bank’s mission, results, and investment opportunities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital and Print Communications
- Design and produce high-quality digital and print visual assets including graphics, videos, documents, presentations and print material.
- Design complex polished visual materials for executive reports and high-level campaign launches.
- Create professional templates for PowerPoint, reports and policy briefs.
- Design event materials such as banners, backdrops, roll-ups, and digital signage.
- Develop corporate identity systems (logos, icons, color palettes, and typography).
Brand Strategy and Quality Assurance
- Assist the communications manager in maintaining and updating the official bank brand identity and visual language guide.
- Collaborate with communication manager to translate messages into visual concepts.
- Contribute to content planning for campaigns, reports, and events.
- Develop visual storytelling materials that simplify complex data or policy content.
- Support responsive web and mobile-friendly graphic assets.
- Maintain digital asset libraries, ensuring metadata tagging and archiving.
Multimedia and Motion Graphics
- Produce and edit videos, including storyboarding, filming, sound design, and color correction.
- Create motion graphics, animated explainers, and 2D/3D visualizations.
- Edit interviews, event highlights, and social media video content using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or DaVinci Resolve.
Technical Design and Production
- Prepare print-ready files and coordinate with printers for accurate production.
- Manage color calibration, vectorization, and digital prepress processes.
- Support virtual event design stage setup, backdrops, lower-thirds, and broadcast overlays.
- Manage photography, video shoots, and live-stream setups (lighting, framing, sound).
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Essential Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in mass communication, Media Studies, Visual Arts, ICT or a related field
- Software: Expert-level proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro) or a similar design ecosystem is mandatory.
Highly Desirable Skills (Competitive Advantage)
- Hands-on experience in photography is considered a valuable addition.
Portfolio and Submission Requirements
Candidates must submit a comprehensive portfolio that clearly demonstrates expertise across the following areas. Failure to submit a complete portfolio will result in immediate disqualification.

- Video products (raw file, rough cut and final cut)
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in multimedia design, with a strong focus on digital and print media.
LANGUAGE
- Somali (Fluent) English (Fluent)
COMPETENCIES
- High level of integrity and professionalism. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Team players with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
