Job Description: News Content Producer

Position Location: Mogadishu, Somalia

Background

Horn Connect is a media production and strategic communication agency based in Mogadishu, Somalia. Since its inception in 2009, Horn Connect has developed a good presence and footprint in every region of Somalia and employs equipped mobile teams for coverage and production in remote and urban locations.

We are looking to hire a News Content Producer who will be in charge of directing the creation of news and feature stories.

Responsibilities:

• Research and come up with news and feature story ideas for international media interest.
• Gather information about news stories as it happens.
• Pitch stories to TV station and news agencies.
• Assign and guide crew to cover news and feature stories.
• Assign and guide video editor to produce and deliver the final story to the client.
• Produce breaking news report.
• Liaise with analysts and experts for soundbites analysis for the news item.
• Liaise with analysts and experts to participate live guests for our international client.
• Create a feedback channel with clients.
• Stay updated with current events through constant research on local and international media.

Requirements:

• Degree in Journalism, Mass communication or relevant degree
• Demonstrated work experience as a news or content producer
• Solid experience with digital technology
• Comprehensive understanding of the video production processes
• Knowledge with camera operation, editing and sound systems
• Ability to edit and proofread stories
• Excellent organizational, team and time management skills
• Good communication skills
• Fluent in English and any other international Language.
• Ability to perform and multitask efficiently under tight deadline
