BACKGROUND

Lifeline Gedo (LLG) is national non-governmental humanitarian organization dedicated towards ensuring that local communities in Somalia are resilient and able to cope with perennial shocks that threaten their livelihoods year in year out. LLG engages in long-term development work, responds to emergency situations, and seeks to address the root causes of poverty.

Duration 12 months with possibility of extension.

2.       ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE
For increasing access to Health and Nutrition, Lifeline Gedo works in urban and remote villages in Gedo region through the provision of health and Nutrition services that include treatment of SAM, MAM, essential maternal and child health services in partnership with ACF funded by GFFO.
Job Summary: 

 

Nutrition/Nurse TSFP will implement quality health and nutrition activities at the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) sites in Elwak district. The Nutrition Nurse – TSFP will work with LLG clinical officer to ensure that the adequate and quality management of moderate acute malnutrition cases among children from 6 to 59 months and pregnant and lactating women, in respect to the IMAM guidelines and Donor standards. 

He will work with the CHW and the community at the respective  villages , mentoring them and providing them with On Job training to ensure there is consistent high quality  preventive and curative care for mothers, children and adults.

He will lead the community to prioritize their health needs and develop joint community action plans that will be tracked over time

Main Duties & 

Responsibilities:

 

Smooth and accurate running of TSFP: 

ü  Ensure that protocols are strictly followed and implemented.

ü  Ensure the clinical health and nutrition consultation of MAM cases by following strictly the protocols and provide individual health and nutrition counselling, refer the case to the health facility in case of need.

ü  Analyze deeply the health and nutrition evolution of each beneficiary and provide the systematic treatment based on the IMAM guidelines; refer the case to the health facility in case of need for additional treatment.

ü  Participate to the forecasting and provision of the nutrition products, systematic treatment and other supplies for each site in a timely manner.

ü  Ensure proper, clear and accurate data recording on clinical registration book and nutrition cards.

ü  Participate to the demonstration of the preparation of the ration for each new admission.

ü  Ensure that all program materials are well maintained.

ü  Check the hygiene at each stage of the TSFP distribution.

Reporting:

ü  Complete and submit to the Field Nutrition Coordinator the relevant weekly and monthly reports for the TSFP activities.

ü  Check the coherence between the medical stock report and the attendance of TSFP beneficiaries.

ü  Make sure reports are accurate and complete.

ü  Report problems encountered to the Field Nutrition Coordinator.

ü  Teamwork and collaboration other partners at health facility and VHT:

ü  Work in close collaboration with the VHT and health staff in terms of screening and referral, community case follow-up and referral of complicated cases.

ü  Propose solution to solve any problem faced and report them to the Field Nutrition Coordinator.

ü  Participate actively to the weekly internal technical meetings.

Others:

ü  In case of emergency, be prepared to contribute to the delivery of an appropriate and timely response.

ü  Comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child safeguarding policy, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.

ü  Any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the nature of the job and level of responsibility.

Qualifications Essential 

 

All applicants should be the resident of Elwak Somalia.ü  Diploma in nutrition or health with minimum two years working experience with NGOs.

ü  Working experience of one year in IMAM program or PHC program.

ü  Experience in health and nutrition programs.

ü  Good relations with other people.

ü  Good capacity to work in a team and flexibility.

ü  Good interpersonal and communication skills

ü  Good writing and presentation skills

ü  English fluency (verbal and written) required and local language (preferred)

ü  Experience working in a refugee context.
