Duty Station: Mogadishu, Somalia

Reporting Directly To: Health and Nutrition Officer

Overall Supervision By: Health and Nutrition Coordinator

Remuneration: Negotiable

2.       ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE

For increasing access to Health and Nutrition, YouthLink works in urban IDPs in Banadir region through the provision of Mobile health and Nutrition services that include treatment of SAM, essential maternal and child health services in Partnership with Concern Worldwide funded by World bank.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Health and Nutrition Officer, the nutrition Nurse will implement quality health and nutrition activities at Mobile Clinic sites. The Nutrition Nurse will work with Youth Link Health and Nutrition officer to ensure that the adequate and quality management of acute malnutrition cases among children from 6 to 59 months and pregnant and lactating women, in respect to the IMAM protocol.

He/she will work with the CHW and the community at the respective IDP locations, mentoring them and providing them with On Job training to ensure there is consistent high-quality preventive and curative care for mothers, children and adults.

He/she will lead the community to prioritize their health needs and develop joint community action plans that will be tracked over time

Main Duties &  Responsibilities:

Program implementation

ü  Ensure that protocols are strictly followed and implemented.

ü  Ensure the clinical health and nutrition consultation of Malnutrition cases by following strictly the protocols and provide individual health and nutrition counselling, refer the SAM cases with complications to SC.

ü  Analyze deeply the health and nutrition evolution of each beneficiary and provide the systematic treatment based on the IMAM guidelines.

ü  Participate to the forecasting and provision of the nutrition products, systematic treatment and other supplies for each site in a timely manner.

ü  Ensure proper, clear and accurate data recording on clinical registration book and nutrition cards.

ü  Participate to the demonstration of the preparation of the ration for each new admission.

ü  Ensure that all program materials are well maintained.

ü  Check the hygiene at each stage of the TSFP distribution.

Reporting:

ü  Complete and submit to the Field Nutrition Coordinator the relevant weekly and monthly reports for the TSFP activities.

ü  Check the coherence between the medical stock report and the attendance of TSFP beneficiaries.

ü  Make sure reports are accurate and complete.

ü  Report problems encountered to the Field Nutrition Coordinator.

ü  Teamwork and collaboration other partners at health facility and VHT:

ü  Work in close collaboration with the VHT and health staff in terms of screening and referral, community case follow-up and referral of complicated cases.

ü  Propose solution to solve any problem faced and report them to the Field Nutrition Coordinator.

ü  Participate actively to the weekly internal technical meetings.

Others:

ü  In case of emergency, be prepared to contribute to the delivery of an appropriate and timely response.

ü  Comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child safeguarding policy, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.

ü  Any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the nature of the job and level of responsibility.

Skills and Qualifications

ü  Diploma in nutrition or health with minimum two years working experience with NGOs.

ü  Working experience of one year in IMAM program or PHC program.

ü  Experience in health and nutrition programs.

ü  Good relations with other people.

ü  Good capacity to work in a team and flexibility.

ü  Good interpersonal and communication skills

ü  Good writing and presentation skills

ü  English fluency (verbal and written) required and local language (preferred)

ü  Experience working in a refugee context.
