  1. About us 

Somali Helping Hands Association, (SOHHA) is a local non-profit, non-governmental, and non-sectarian organization, instituted, staffed, and managed by a faculty of Somali professionals. Conceptualized and discussed since the mid-2014, the organization was officially launched in January 2018 by a group of Somali intellectuals from different fields, with the consultation of various community groups in South West State (SWS) and Hirshabelle State — such as traditional leaders, businessmen, women’s groups, youth groups, and religious scholars — in all districts under the two states. SOHHA’s mission is to provide rapid humanitarian response, support sustainable livelihoods, and empower communities through capacity building and technical assistance.

  1. General Position Summary 

The Nutrition Project Officer will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring SOHHA’s nutrition activities in Beletweyne District, ensuring effective service delivery in line with national and international nutrition standards, donor requirements, and SOHHA’s policies.

The Implementing Partner SOHHA, funded by the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) under Project CBPF-SOM-25-S-NGO-36466, is carrying out the Provision of life-saving, community-based preventive assistance to the most vulnerable populations in under-served and hard-to-reach rural areas of Beletweyne District. The Nutrition Project Officer will play a key role in delivering the nutrition component of this project, ensuring that planned interventions are implemented to the highest quality, meet the needs of the target population, and comply fully with donor guidelines and SOHHA’s operational standards.


 

  1. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Project Coordination & Implementation

  • Plan, implement, and oversee day-to-day nutrition project activities in assigned areas.

  • Coordinate with community health workers, facility staff, and local authorities to ensure smooth operations.

  • Ensure nutrition interventions comply with Somalia national guidelines and Sphere standards.

  1. Service Delivery

  • Support the management of CMAM programs (OTP, TSFP, SC) and IYCF activities.

  • Provide technical support, training, and mentorship to project staff and volunteers.

  • Ensure timely delivery, distribution, and accountability of nutrition commodities.

  1. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor activities and service quality.

  • Compile, verify, and analyze nutrition data from the field.

  • Prepare and submit accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.

  1. Community Mobilization & Awareness

  • Organize and facilitate community sensitization sessions on nutrition and health.

  • Strengthen referral mechanisms between communities and health facilities.

  1. Compliance & Accountability

  • Adhere to SOHHA’s HR Policy, Code of Conduct, and PSEA guidelines.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all project and beneficiary information.

  • Promote transparency and accountability at all levels.


 

  1. Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, or related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in nutrition programming in humanitarian or development settings.

  • Proven knowledge of CMAM and IYCF-E protocols.

  • Strong skills in data management, analysis, and reporting.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Fluency in Somali and English for working proficiency.
