Job Description

Job Purpose/Objective

The Nutrition officer will responsible and support the implementation of nutrition activities and supporting filed nutrition staff performing ongoing monitoring and support supervision, providing guideline to the program plan and staff capacity building. He/She will be managing the implementation of SAM program, IYCF and EPI, practicing om other nutrition program and Working under the guidance and supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Nutrition Officer will be directly responsible for the day to day implementation of the project. He/She will be responsible for managing SHF nutrition Project, working with MOH at TUOS supported facilities and Mobile team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the SHF nutrition response including treatment of severely malnourished under-fives while following the stipulated protocol.
  • Ensure that protocols are strictly followed and implemented.
  • Support and supervise the HW to take accurate anthropometrics measurements.
  • Ensure the registration of new beneficiaries for SAM program by following strictly the protocols and provide individual nutrition counselling based on the nutrition status, age of the child.
  • Ensure the nutrition follow-up of each beneficiary based on the strict admission and exit criteria, identify potential discrepancy and correct them accordingly; refer the case to the health facility or TSFP in case of need.
  • Ensure proper, clear and accurate data recording on registration books and OTP cards.
  • Ensure that all program materials are well maintained.
  • Train and mentor the program staff and the integrated community health promoters through identification of capacity gaps and carrying out refresher trainings and on the job trainings.
  • Complete and submit to the Project Coordinator the relevant weekly and monthly reports for the OTP activities.
  • Check the coherence between the stock report and the attendance of SAM beneficiaries.
  • Make sure reports are accurate and complete.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

  • Bachelor Public Health or nutrition with minimum Five years working experience with NGOs.
  • Experience in nutrition program and community work.
  • Experience in training of volunteers on SAM program.
  • Good relations with other people.
  • Good capacity to work in a team and flexibility.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good writing and presentation skills
  • English fluency (verbal and written) required and local language (preferred)
  • Strong report writing and team working skills
