Human Appeal Somalia Country Office programme operations are based in Mogadishu, Gedo region and previously Bay region, with programmatic focus in the sectors of; WASH, Shelter, FSL, Education/Child Sponsorship, Protection and Health.

Main Job Purpose

To assist the Project Officer in coordinating all Emergency and Malnutrition Programs in the area of operation in the district(s) and ensure compliance to Donor and Human Appeal requirements/guidelines The Project Assistant(s) will ensure effective implementation, coordination and supervision of Nutrition activities with the aim of improving the health & nutritional status of vulnerable groups especially women and children in the project target areas.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Under direct supervision of Nutrition Project Officer, the position holder will support the implementation of project activities as per the detailed Implementation plans and as per the acceptable standards set by Human Appeal.

Ensure availability of all the necessary equipment and supplies in all project locations.

Support the coordination of activities with community leaders, district authorities and other stakeholders to mobilize communities to actively participate in project activities

Work with Project Officer and other programme staff to ensure that all data collection for the project are in place.

Participate and support project evaluation and other related assessments.

Provide regular updates on the progress of the project implementation to the Project Officer in line with the Work Plans for the project.

Draft weekly, monthly and completion reports for the project and submit it to the relevant staff.

Co-ordinate and foster relations with other Human Appeal Somalia Programs in the district as to ensure proper allocation and sharing of resources.

Assist Project Officer and other Programme team and district teams to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate approved activities as per programs design.

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Competencies

Diploma or Bachelor in Community/Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, Social Studies or Development Studies

Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in Nutrition with experience in field work.

Excellent organizational, negotiation skills and strong interpersonal skills

Good understanding of and practical, experience with program design, program management cycle, M&E, budget management and ethics in programming;

Adequate skills in networking, representation and building relations with diverse stakeholders Sound knowledge of international donor procedures;

Strong team working and conflict resolution skills, adaptability and interest in capacity building;

Highly reliable, able to consistently meet tight deadlines;

Excellent command of English language both spoken and written;

Computer literate and competent in various office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and etc.).

Desirable Skills:

Solid understanding of the political context in Somalia, including security and economic situation;

Excellent cross-cultural awareness;

Experience working in security-sensitive environments and enforcement of team security protocols

Master’s degree will be an added advantage but not a requirement

Arabic language will an added advantage.
