Health Poverty Action is seeking to recruit a competent and qualified person for the position of Nutrition Project Officer for Somaliland programme with the following specifications and qualifications:

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential requirements

• At least three years’ experience of and health and Nutrition for an international NGO or UN agency
• Experience of planning and implementing Health and Nutrition ( OTP, TSFP, IYCF and Nutrition Health & Hygiene Promotion) at both facility and community levels
• Experience in managing outreach and mobile teams for nutrition and health
• Strong analytical and report writing skills including preparing quality monthly reports
• Computer literacy in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
• Fluent oral and written Somali and English
• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine
• Knowledge of Health and nutrition situations affecting women and children in Somaliland.
• Develop a detail project implementation plan based on the agreed project work plan and available budget and effectively coordinate with Programme Managers for guidance and support in implementation, monitoring and reporting.

• Be able to assess health sector’s ability to respond to the nutritional needs of acutely malnourished children and make recommendations to the Health Poverty Action Nutrition Programme Manager and to country office on how to best respond to those needs programmatically.
• Be able to assess the immediate lifesaving health and nutrition interventions needed.
• Coordinate Health Poverty Action’s health and nutrition response activities across Somaliland country programme.

Desirable requirements

• Knowledge and understanding of Somaliland health systems
• Experience of working in an international setting is an asset.
• Experience of working within the health sector.
• Willingness to travel to the field and to work additional hours as required.

• Experience and knowledge of working in GBV projects.
