Job Description
ONCALL PROFESSIONAL TRANSLATION AND PHOTOGRAPHY SERVICES
Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization providing assistance to people affected by armed conflicts, epidemics, natural or non-natural disasters or persons excluded from access to health care. The organization has health projects in more than 70 countries. MSF Somalia mission is seeking to prequalify individual translators and photographers across all the regions (Somalia & Somaliland) and establish a database of approved service providers to provide translation and photo videography services on need basis.
Main Purpose
Translators: offering professional translation services depending on the supervisor’s instructions and according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures, in order to ensure a proper representation and translations of MSF activities and core values.
Photographers: offering photography and videography services clearly capturing project activities and achievements from the perspective of patients, members of the displaced and host communities, emergencies, outbreaks and MSF key health partners.
Main responsibilities
Skills and Qualifications
Translator
- Higher education in health, communications, social science, development studies, linguistics.
- At least 3 years of similar working experience in Somali regions. Experience with MSF or other NGOs, desirable.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in medical and logistics spheres translation.
- Desirable computer literacy (MS word)
Photographer
Higher education in Journalism and Mass Communications
At least 3 years of working experience in photo and video production, preferably with aid organizations in Somalia.
Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts through written, and where applicable, audiovisual storytelling.
Very good knowledge of current developments and practices in communication including digital media, indigenous media, community organization and participation.
Broadcast quality full HD video
Professional and high-quality sound recording, lighting set, lapel mic should be used for interviews
High-quality cameras not less than 720pixels\.
Works with Premiere Pro Editing software and equipment
