Partnership & Country Manager for Somalia

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Danish Red Cross (DRC) is looking for an experienced humanitarian to support the development, positioning and impact of the Red Cross Red Cresent work in Somalia.

You will work under the framework of the IFRC Nairobi Country Cluster Delegation for Somalia and Kenya with particular focus on supporting Somali Red Cresent Society (SRCS) in achieving their mission to prevent and alleviate suffering by working with communities, local authorities and other partners to provide basic and quality services to vulnerable people in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

In addition to the IFRC support, you will function as DRC Country Manager for Somalia and act as focal point for all DRC issues related to Somalia.

Your tasks​

1. Support the roll-out of the IFRC ‘Agenda for Renewal’, which aims to position the IFRC secretariat as a cost effective, innovative, transparent and accountable organisation, supporting community-based action, with particular focus on:
2. National Society Development
3. Humanitarian Diplomacy
4. Coordination between SRCS, Partner National Societies, ICRC and non-Movement partners
5. Contribute to the positioning and resource mobilisation for SRCS, including:
6. Fundraising and resource mobilisation with internal and external networking and partner engagement
7. Measuring of quality, impact and efficiency of interventions
8. Conducting context analyses, planning, budgeting, and risk management
9. Leveraging IFRC’s international organization status and networks capacities to access longer term and larger grants
10. Support SRCS with domestic resource mobilization
11. As DRC Country Manager the delegate will be responsible for all DRC bilateral engagement with SRCS. This includes:
12. Strategic direction of DRC engagement in the country
13. Operationalising and implementing DRC organisational priorities in country
14. Management and development of DRC supported portfolio in the country
15. Leading DRCs commitment towards strengthened Movement collaboration in country
16. Financial oversight of DRC country budget

Your profile​

The ideal profile has:

• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in working with humanitarian organisations in developing, emergency and post-emergency countries

• Leadership experience

• Documented fundraising and donor engagement skills

• Exceptional self-management skills in situations of stress

• Experience from working with Red Cross Red Crescent Movement partners

• Basic knowledge and experience with project and financial management

• Experience from working in Africa

• Excellent communication, coordination, networking and facilitation skills

• Solid experience on partnership and relations management with diplomatic skills and approach

• English and Danish speaking and writing skills

• Full proficiency in Microsoft Office

We offer

The position is a two-year employment – 40 working hours per week. It is a family position based in Nairobi with frequent travels to Somaliland and Puntland.

Salary level between: 45.300,00 DKK – 48.600,00 DKK Rates are including pensions and allowances.

In your capacity as IFRC Partnership Advisor, you will report to and work under the supervision and guidance on the IFRC Head of Country Cluster Delegation for Kenya and Somalia, based in Nairobi.

In your capacity as DRC Country Manager, you will report to the DRC Head of Africa Region, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
