Pharmacist – Afmadow, Somalia
Job Description
The incumbent will be responsible for the day to day implementation of Nehrro activities in the field in accordance with the implementation framework and donor guidelines.
SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Pharmacy will undertake a number of duties and responsibilities, including:
- Compounding and dispensing medications, as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitoring beneficiaries drug therapies, advising interventions and informing beneficiaries of any potential side effects.
- Instructing beneficiaries on how and when to take prescribed medications.
- Conducting health and wellness screenings.
- Providing immunizations, and other medical services, such as taking blood pressure, temperature measurements, and checking blood sugar levels.
- Keeping accurate beneficiaries records.
- Ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
- Completing operational requirements of the pharmacy, including verifying order entries, maintaining records of controlled substances, charges, and removing expired and/or damaged drugs from the pharmacy’s inventory.
- Adhering to applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures governing
- pharmaceutical practice
- Any other duties as directed by the supervisor or the Program/Medical doctor
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor/Diploma in Pharmacy or equivalent professional practice in nursing
- At least 3 years experience in a recognised medical institution
- Ability to read and write in English as well as the Somali language
- Must be a local and a resident from the Lower Juba region
- Strong moral standards; honesty, transparency, generosity, altruism and respect
- Experience in working in harsh environment is an added advantage
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a team and within the community.
