1. Organizational Background

HIDIG Relief and Development Organization (HRDO) is a non-governmental, non-profit, and impartial organization established in 2000 by Somali professionals from the diaspora. HIDIG operates across South-Central Somalia, focusing on improving the well-being of vulnerable communities, particularly internally displaced persons (IDPs) and hard-to-reach populations in Southern Somalia. The organization implements programs in health, nutrition, education, protection, WASH, and livelihoods, with an emphasis on sustainability, local ownership, and emergency response.

2. Overall Job Purpose

HIDIG plans to implement a project titled ”Provision of Essential Lifesaving Primary Health Services to Vulnerable Communities in Under-Served and Hard-to-Reach Areas” (Project Code: 36514) in Beledweyne district, Hiraan region. Funded by the Somalia Humanitarian Fund (SHF) under the 2025 1st Standard Allocation, the project aims to reduce excess morbidity and mortality by improving access to primary healthcare for communities affected by climatic shocks and conflict.
Aligned with the 2025 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP), the intervention supports emergency responses in priority districts and promotes the health rights and resilience of at-risk populations.

3. Position 1: Pharmacy/Drug Dispensers (2 Positions)

Two (2) Pharmacy/Drug Dispensers will be recruited—one assigned to the fixed Health Center and one attached to the Mobile Health Team. The primary responsibility is to dispense medications to patients according to medical prescriptions and national treatment protocols, ensuring proper pharmaceutical practice and inventory control.

A.    Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately dispense prescribed medications to patients in line with national guidelines.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients on dosage, timing, and storage of medicines.
  • Ensure proper labeling and packaging of medications.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of drugs and medical supplies.
  • Conduct regular inventory and report low stock or damaged medicines.
  • Store drugs safely and ensure cold chain management where necessary.
  • Keep detailed records of dispensed medications and consumption trends.
  • Support Mobile Health Team in remote areas by preparing and managing field drug kits.
  • Adhere strictly to HIDIG’s drug management and infection prevention protocols.
  • Report weekly and monthly drug utilization data to the person in charge at the facility where you are assigned.
B.    Required Qualifications
  • Diploma or Certificate in Pharmacy or Drug Dispensing from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in dispensing or pharmaceutical services.
  • Familiarity with Somalia’s essential drug list and national treatment guidelines.
  • Knowledge of stock management and basic pharmacy inventory tools.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare stock reports.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Fluency in Somali; basic English is an asset.
  • Willingness to work in both static and mobile service environments.
4. Position 2: Laboratory Technician/Assistant (1 Position)

One (1) Laboratory Technician/Assistant will be assigned to the Health Center to support clinical services. The role focuses on sample collection and diagnostic support.

A.    Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood, urine, and other clinical samples from patients in a safe and hygienic manner.
  • Perform routine diagnostic tests such as hemoglobin, malaria, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, etc.
  • Record, label, and store samples following infection prevention and lab safety protocols.
  • Share test results with clinical staff to aid in timely diagnosis and treatment decisions.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of all lab equipment.
  • Maintain stock of lab supplies and report needs for replenishment.
  • Keep accurate logs of tests conducted and submit weekly/monthly data reports to the Medical Officer.
  • Observe confidentiality and ethical standards when handling patient data and specimens.
B.    Required Qualifications
  • Diploma or Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in a health facility laboratory setting.
  • Basic knowledge of diagnostic equipment and standard lab tests.
  • Familiarity with national health laboratory protocols and quality standards.
  • Fluency in Somali; basic English is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail, ethics, and hygiene standards.
  • Report weekly and monthly laboratory activities and test results to the person in charge at the facility where you are assigned.
