Political, Media and Economic Analyst – Hargeisa, Somaliland

Title: Political, Media and Economic Analyst

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Employment: Full time (probationary period: 3 months)

Working Hours: 8 hours, 6 days a week.

(Extra work may be required on evenings and weekends)

Location: Hargeisa, Somaliland

Organization Overview: Hargeisa International Media Center is a full media research center that covers Somaliland news through various media (Social media, Somali news websites, Somali news channels, Newspapers, etc.) on daily basis.

Post Summary: Our center is committed to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing and addressing major political, media and economic topics in Somaliland, and we are seeking a candidate with strong report writing skills, strong research instincts and interest in politics to support our center’s goal.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily monitoring of visual, audio, and printed media for political, economic and social topics of interest and prepare the daily, weekly and periodic reports
Follow-up the most important statements, press conferences and releases issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by using social media and newspapers to submit reports about them.
Use social media to cover various news and media events held by the center and prepare media briefings and executive summaries.
Contribute effectively to organizing, participating and attending political events organized or attended by the center
Prepare reports and minutes of meetings and follow-up the directives and recommendations of the Line Manager.
Develop and update a database on mass media, media influencers, as well as biographies of political figures and officials in the country.
Collect and analyze information. Follow-up news, political events, and
Prepare daily, weekly and periodic reports.
Contribute to updating the center’s website with news, reports and political activities and events held by the center
