Duties andResponsibilities

The Consultant will support ROLSIG and PAMG in their analysis of the politics and security. This work will include the following deliverables:

• Assist ROLSIG and PAMG to develop analysis, strategies, and recommendations on political and security aspects of the UNSOM mandate as it relates to supporting national partners.
• Conduct research and present information gathered from diverse sources to support context assessments and other information products as required.
• Provide specific analysis of dynamics in Federal Member States.
• Identify relevant interlocutors and facilitate theme-specific consultations.

Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, security planning and strategy, or related fields. A first-level university degree with a combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in political affairs, conflict resolution and security sector reform in government, academia or think tanks in Somalia. Strong understanding of the regional and community dynamics in Somalia is required.
